I took a photo of my son's that was almost black and white:

and added a splash of color to it:

I'm learning...

I think a workflow course is high on my list.

I don't want to buy real Photoshop, though...

Actually, my son rejected this as "not natural" so I've toned it down a bit and done away with any image sharpening at all. Once he is happy, I will upload the "customer's choice."

This might be the final edit. It doesn't "pop" so much and that's how he wants it. I did not use the unsharp mask at all, as that created some blotches when the shot was enlarged to 16x20, which will be the final size.

Anyhow, he thinks that this looks more natural - the way it would have looked if only the window was not in the way.

*Sigh*

"I want photoshop, that's really cool"

Corrected version.

"Could you give me some pointers to information and or training courses so that after hours of tuition and practice similar to the amount of time and effort you have put in, I may be able to either emulate or at least approximate your results?"

Ahhh never mind

Hey Dr Sam, I wonder if you might take that aerial shot I sent you and produce something similar? I hereby formally extend to you permission to use and modify said photo and thereafter use it for any purpose you so wish. I even relinquish any requirement to be identified as the photographer.

Just if you have the time/inclination. I may draw inspiration from your work.

Oh and by the way almost as an afterthought, my most sincere compliments to you for your work. It looks amazing.
