Our toasting flutes are in the curio cabinet with our unity candle and wedding album. We have two shelves for just wedding stuff. We didn't want a cake topper and I honestly have no idea where my cake server set is. I think I donated it to our church after the reception. I don't really care for cake so no need for me to have it!
As for our flutes and unity candle... every year on our anniversary we light our candle and drink sweet tea (because neither of us drink) from our flutes. Just a little moment to remind us of that day. We also watch our video.

Do you have two sets of dishes, one for everyday use, and one set of nicer china? If you do, wherever you have the nicer china stored, keep the cake server set with it. Pull it down for occasions like Christmas, Thanksgiving, Easter, and other special occasions, or loan it to a very close friend if you trust them to give it back, for their wedding day.
If you have a place where your toasting flutes can be displayed, do that. If you don't, pack them up very carefully and put them away. Bring them out for anniversaries.
I have no idea what most people do with thier cake toppers. You don't see them displayed in most households, do you? I never really thought about it. As for ours, it's in storage right now with all our other "knick-knack" stuff, because we're in a smaller apartment than the house we lived in earlier in our marriage. However, we do have a curio cabinet, and once we get settled, it will be filled again. We have a shelf on it where the toasting flutes, a framed wedding picture, a framed invitation, the handkerchief his mother gave me, my bouquet (dried) and the cake topper are displayed.

i'm not married yet, but i plan on using those things after.. well, except for the cake topper lol
but i love to bake, so i know i'll use the cake server set again and again, especially with the holidays coming up!
i'm not sure if i'm going to just use some of our nice champagne glasses to toast with or if i'm going to buy different ones..i'll more than likely just use some from our set though.. having special toasting flutes don't matter much to me! as long as i have a glass, i'm fine!
our cake topper is a funny one.. it's a girl standing with her arms crossed and the guy has a ball and chain around one leg and he's trying to run away.. so i plan on keeping that out on display! lol and then for every anniversary, i will put it on top of the cake i make!
sounds great to me! lol living on my own at such a young age with my own home, i really value money and what it's worth, and therefore i see the point in using everything i buy! whether it's for a special occasion or not! why not use those things over and over again? and so what if you risk breaking them.. it's all replaceable!

My champagne glasses are still in the box they came in. I will keep them since my mom had them engraved for us.
I still have the cake server, well, the knife, which I keep as a weapon to defend my home and family (because I cut the cake with a sword, the restaurant served it with their own flatware) and I discarded the cake topper, it was some fluffy thing sort of like a gift bow. I couldn't really find a cake topper I liked so I just let the bakery put that fluffy thing on top.

I'm not married yet. However, I would think you could use those items again. Not for everyday use, but for special occasions. I would definitely get the cake serving set out on holidays, anniversaries and for my future children's birthdays. If you take good care of them, you can be cutting your grand children's birthday cakes with that set.
Same for the toasting flutes. I would use them on special occasions and holidays. If you have Christmas or Thanksgiving at your home, give your guests the regular champagne flutes. You and your hubby can use your toasting flutes.
The cake topper, not sure. That's just a nice keepsake.

These sit in a box in your attic until your kids drag them out after you die.
Some people display the cake topper on a shelf, some use the toasting flutes for regular wine glasses.. The serving set really has no use whatsoever though.

If you haven't had your wedding yet, you might consider renting stuff like this. The thing I didn't really want for our wedding, but my mother ended up getting us, was the unity candle. I still have this big partially burnt candle with doves on it that I feel guilty about doing anything with, but don't have any use for it. Maybe it can go in our disaster kit.
We picked up our cake toppers in Prague the summer before our wedding, and they're two separate pieces. I had a small ceder box with a glass front built that holds my bouquet (dried) and cake toppers, it looks beautiful on the wall and people always comment on it.
The cake server set can actually be used anytime you serve cake, but is easily rented/borrowed. Most of the stuff we think we just "have" to have for our weddings aren't mementos that we have any real attachment to after the wedding. If you have a friend that's getting married, consider letting them have/borrow them.
Congrats on your new marriage though :) Good luck to you both!

Our flutes have been used for the last eleven years and are on our hutch in the kitchen.
The cake server set is used on a regular basic for all cake making/ eating occasions
Our topper was hand painted porcelain and is still in our hoke chest and most likely will be there until one of our kids want it for there wedding. If they don't want it, then they will find it there after my wife and I have kicked the bucket.

I used the flutes for special occasions, the cake server as my regular server and put the cake topper in my hutch. We are now divorced and it is all packed away in the attic for my kids to decide what to do with them!
