I saw her today at a reception
A glass of wine in her hand
I knew she would meet her connection
At her feet was her footloose man

No, you can't always get what you want
You can't always get what you want
You can't always get what you want
And if you try sometime you find
You get what you need

I saw her today at the reception
A glass of wine in her hand
I knew she was gonna meet her connection
At her feet was, footloose man

You can't always get what you want
You can't always get what you want
You can't always get what you want
But if you try sometimes, well you might find
You get what you need

Oh yea-ay (hey-hey-hey, oooh)

And I went down to the demonstration
To get my fair share of abuse
Singin', 'We're gonna vent our frustration
If we don't, we're gonna blow a 50-amp fuse'
Sing it to me, now

(You can't always get what you want)
(You can't always get what you want)
(You can't always get what you want)
But if you try sometimes, well you just might find
You get what you need
Ooh baby, yeah, ooh

I went down to the Chelsea drugstore
To get your prescription filled
I was standin' in line with Mr. Jimmy
A-man, did he look pretty ill

We decided that we would have a soda
My favorite flavor, cherry red
I sung my song to Mr. Jimmy
Yeah, and he said one word to me, and that was 'dead'
I said to him

(You can't always get what you want) well no!
(You can't always get what you want) tell ya baby
(You can't always get what you want) no
But if you try sometimes, you just might find, mmm!
Mmm! you get what you need
Ooh yes! Woo!

(Instrumental & choir) Ooow-ooh!

You get what you need
Yeah!
Ooow, babe!
Ooh, yeah

I saw her today at the reception
In her glass was a bleeding man
She was practiced at the art of deception
Well, I could tell by her blood-stained hands
Say it!

(You can't always get what you want) yeah!
(You can't always get a-what you want) ooo-yeah, baby!
(You can't always get a-what you want)
But if you try sometime, you just might find
You just might find
You get what you need

Ooh, yeah!
Ooh, baby!
Woo!

Ah, you can't always get a-what you want
No, no baby

You can't always get a-what you want
Tellin' you right now

You can't always get what you want, mmm!
But if you try sometimes you just might find
You just might find, that ya
Get what you need

Love and blessings Don

Sometimes the things we want are not good for us, and God knows this. God gives us the things we need, and this is what Jesus taught us to pray for in the Lord's Prayer when He said, "Give us this day our daily bread." He also taught that God cares for us more than He does for the birds of the air and the flowers of the field, and He gives the birds what they need and clothes the flowers in beauty.

Many people think prayer means asking God for things, and they are disappointed when their prayers are not answered. They forget that we pray for other reasons as well. There's an easy way to remember what those reasons are: the word ACTS (adoration, contrition, thanksgiving, supplication). We pray (1) to praise God, (2) to ask for forgiveness, (3) to thank God for what we have received, and (4) to ask God for what we need. Note that supplication comes last!

I'm going to evade your question because I don't know the answer. But I will say this, our basic needs for survival (i.e. water, food, shelter etc) are not wants - they are needs. This is an entirely different question: why many people in the world have to struggle for these things - and often die or suffer extreme hardship through lack of them.

"Seek FIRST the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be given unto you."
Therein is the problem...is He FIRST in your life, above all else? Solomon did not seek riches, he only sought after God's wisdom, and because of this, he was given many things. But look at what eventually happened....he started following 'strange gods'. God will give us all we NEED, we TAKE what we WANT. And the WANT is usually with wrong motives.

It took me a longggg time to learn that what the Lord wants for me is for me to want / desire "Him" above everything else. When I learned to love God first and most, funny thing happened.....things I used to think were important weren't really that important after all. As children of God, He is our "Father" and His main goal is not to see you happy, but see you "home." His greatest desire is to see your safe arrival to heaven, and He knows better than anyone else what exactly we need and don't need to ensure our successful journey. It's not an issue of trust with God, but love for each of us as His child.

God wants you to know all the dynamics involved with life, so that you can be a little god.

Oh...if you could have whatever you want than trust me that you won't want to live....!

Because if you could have everything you want in life....you life will be not worth living, you loose all challenges and beauty of life. You will be bored to death!

You will have no other feeling other than sadness because there is nothing that will come your way and thrilled you....

So life better off be dead!

I could list more...but I guess its time for breakfast for me,,

If you have everything you want it would defeat the purpose of the wanting to begin with.

Forget this "god" stuff... if you want it, you've got to make it happen yourself, or it won't.
And even if you try, there's no guarantee you'll get what you want... that's life.
It's the same for christians, no matter what they say.
