I have just answered this on another page. But...here goes again. If you are UK (and I presume that you are as you are on UK page) you have got yourself a Banned Breed under the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991 and therefore you have to comply with all the restrictions thereon. The Breeder has committed an offence by breeding the puppy in the first place.

The only reason this cross could be dangerous is crossing a guardian breed (mastiff) with a dog bred to be EXTREMELY people friendly (pit bull). It's like conflicting personalities. Like a devil and an angel on your shoulder.

BUT just because the two are mixed doesn't mean the dog will wind up dangerous. It's all in how you raise it and manage it. Both of those breeds require EXPERIENCED owners. You can't let them get away with anything!

The suggestion of an obedience class is an excellent one. Read here https://tr.im/gHn00
It will help your dog learn to behave around other dogs, and help keep your training moving forward as you'll want to be prepared for the next class. Also, a good instructor can be a wonderful resource, someone to help you with any questions or concerns about your dog. Leash training can take a LOT of time and patience, depending upon the dog. I'm not sure what you mean by 'horrible on a leash' but my basic suggestion is that you take a lot of yummy treats with you on walks. When your dog behaves well on the leash (not pulling) praise her and give her treats. Change direction a lot so that she learns to pay attention to YOU and where you are going. It's also helpful to teach a "Watch Me" command such that whenever your dog looks at you you praise her and give her a treat. About chewing, yes a Kong is a great chew toy. Some dogs also like Nylabone brand bones. I suggest also teaching a "Leave It" command. You use this when she shows interest in chewing on something she shouldn't. Then immediately give her something she is allowed to chew, such as the Kong stuffed with somethig yummy. This same command will be helpful on walks when she wants to sniff or eat something she shouldn't. Again, when she does leave the item alone, be sure to give lots of praise. I would look into an obedience class right away. I think that you'll find that a good obedience class can help enormously! Good luck and enjoy your new dog.

First of all a puppy is basically a clean slate .. the way you raise the dog will ultimately define the type of dog that he becomes as an adult. Treat the puppy with love and give it attention,( good attention) and you will have a lovely pet. Pitbulls have been known to be vicious, but they are trained to be that way. I know of many loyal and loving family pets that are pitbulls. As for the Mastiffs.. they are also capapble of violence.. but only if abused or trained to act out that way.. You are in total control of your puppy at this point. He is learning from you. What you allow or do not allow is very important right from the beginning.. Be firm but not cruel. Be the boss. but not the abuser.. You will have a great dog. I personally believe that a cross breed is a better dog than a purebred. Purebreds are more prone to have many physical as well as mental health issues as they are bred for certain traits, and these traits may not be in the dogs best interest.. Cross breeding allows mother nature to bring the best of the two dog breeds together into one more stable and healthier dog

Hi, the answer you don't want to hear is yes! As you may know, pitbull's are a banned breed in the UK, so if you live in the US this doesn't apply to you but, wherever you live, they are vicious and unpredictable. I've seen the damage a bull mastiff can do and thats frightening! The two together is a dangerous dog and you have to be on top of that dog all the time. Its good that you have it from a pup so that you can be the first person with sense to raise a dog like that to grow up to be different from the rest! You have to be its master ALL the time, one step out of line and you correct it there and then! Train it well and socialise it NOW, thats vital to its future. Give it lots and lots of love but always be aware of exactly what you have on your hands. If you have young children and or young relatives, please be careful when they are around your dog, never let it play too rough with them, you know what i mean, grabbing wrists and tugging away from the crowd! I hope you raise it to be one of the nicest dogs around, its a shame those breeds have their reputations, its not their fault, its the fault of bad owners who need something 'hard' looking by their sides because their not 'hard' enough themselves! Good luck to you and your pup, i bet its a great looking little thing! Have fun with it and i'm sure you'll end up with a beautifully natured animal.

Many reputable dog trainers believe that cross breed dogs are best because you get the good characteristics from both breeds. Then again, a pessimist might say that you could end up with the bad ones. The fact is that breeds have been put together with specific reasons in mind, be it, toy, lap, hunting, guarding or even fighting. Yours was not designed as a lap dog. It must be socialized. That means that you must get it interacting with other dogs, people, children etc. Take it to Puppy Pre-school. Train your dog for obediance and to know it's place in "the pack". That means that if you have a child, for example, your dog must not be allowed to compete with that child for a place on the lounge. You have taken on the responsibility of raising a four legged child and if you do it with the right combination of love and with discipline, you will have a member of your family to be proud of.

If properly trained as a puppy- NO not dangerous AT ALL. Have a friend who used to breed pitbulls and so many people talked crap saying pits are mean dogs, but honestly its how they are treated and trained! Same as any "agressive breed" if they are trained as a puppy to be a domesticated house dog then you should have No problem. However, your renters or homeowners insurance may increase because pitbulls are commonly bred to be fighters, even though yours is NOT, they do have a bad rep.

OK, its all about how you raise it. If you are rough with him then its instincts might kick in and it could become aggressive. However, if you teach him that biting, growling, etc. is not acceptable at a young age you should be just fine. It's all about how you raise it. Pitbulls and mastiffs are raised to fight each other and be mean in a lot of cases. But, if you raise him right then he will be fine! Enjoy your new puppy~

to be honest any dog is dangerous, it is the way you bring them up, just the same as children. They need to learn what no means and needs to intergrate with other dogs bigger and smaller, people, children ect, then he/she wont be scared and shound not be aggresive. Enjoy your puppy and train him well and things should be ok, good luck.
