Someone had asked this about just calling God Allah. But then God isn't Allah in the Holy Bible very much. But His Name is Yahweh Elohim. El Elyon, etc...

I love you teem, but can we agree to disagree on this one (united). Elohim is plural in the fulness of the greatness of God (Elohim created the heavens & the earth.). The 1st verse in the bible & most important truth about God. And false gods were called elohims also. Or allahs or elyhs. Etc... So Is the true God called Allahs or Elyhs also.

Mans traditions make void the Word of God. Or make the Word of God of none effect.

Some people consider God's name so holy that it should not be said lest one say it in a light or frivolous way.

You are 100% incorrect. Nowhere in the Hebrew writings will you EVER find the word Allah meaning God. El has many different forms and yes Elohim is one. Elohim is plural form but it is not related to the moon god allah.

Did it ever occur to you to check this out with Jewish practice? It is Hebrew, so perhaps we should get a vote.

We don't pronounce the Tetragrammaton because that name is so sacred. And we don't actually know how to pronounce it; what you wrote above is just an approximation.

There's some important theology woven into this practice. We can never know or define G-d. Whatever we say leaves far too much out. Not speaking or writing the Name means we don't forget this.

Please respect our tradition.

Elohim when used in connection with Yahweh means

Supreme / True God and not the plural of Allah.

Yahweh is a name.

To say Yahweh Elohim in English is

Yahweh God or Yahweh (the true) God.

or

Jehovah God or Jehovah (the true) God

If I say 'Roberto es listo' in Spanish and translate this into Engish, it would read.

'Robert is wise' and not 'Man is wise'. (Roberto / Robert is a personal name)

If everyone used this expression they would be agreeing with Jehovah's Witnesses.

-------
Oxford Bible Commentary:

“ YHWH (Jehovah) is the God, throughout the OT as the God who created the world.”

“But all our texts imply or affirm that for Israel, there can in the end be only YHWH (Jehovah).”

“(Gen 1:1 – 2:4c) in the OT there is only one God”

“(Deut 6:4) The audience is being admonished and confesses that Israel stands in an exclusive relationship with Jehovah. This excludes the worship of any other deities, as well as a consort of Jehovah.”

-------

Elohim when it applies to Jehovah or Yahweh, means the only true God of Israel

2) (plural intensive - singular meaning)

a) god, goddess
b) godlike one
c) works or special possessions of God
d) the (true) God
e) God

Yahweh Elohim: DOES NOT MEAN YAHWEH GODS, BUT YAHWEH the true (d) GOD.

That is why when you see Elohim in connection with Jehovah the articles are always singular.

Hear, O Israel: Jehovah our God is one Jehovah:(Duet 6:4, ASB)

.edit -----

El, Elohim are not names but titles, that mean god or God.

Titles can be used in place of names, but they are still titles.

Where as Yahweh or Jehovah is the only personal name of El or Elohim, etc.

OK let's call him God.

Great idea!

From now on everyone including Muslims just call him God and we can be done with all this foolishness.

And all this time, all everyone had to do was to see things my way!
