When I bring food back from a restaurant, it can sometimes taste better when I reheat it at home?

There are a couple of dishes that I make and sit in the fridge to cool , then serve it the next day....is that still leftovers, but it always tastes better that way.
My daughter will not eat chicken and noodles until the next day...she'll get one little spoonful when they are fresh. Next day a big heaping bowl of them.

They just taste good. It gives the food a chance to rest, and mingle with all the other flavors.

The flavors begin to marry even more and blend out. Chili is like that too. In fact there are lots of food like that. When you make chicken salad it tastes better after it is there overnight. Not everything tho, scrambled egg are not good leftover LOL...

Soups, stews, and chilis really have a chance for the flavors and spices to meld and marry...so that it tastes more rich and complex the next day.

However, there is no substitute for cooking great food. So, if it tasted awesome on the 1st day, it will usually taste even better on the 2nd day.

Hope this helps...

All of them, we eat leftovers a LOT. I love leftover pork & chicken in a stir fry. I love leftover thanksgiving leftovers in a stew.

I totally agree food does taste better when its leftovers. The reason why leftovers taste better is because when something sits in like sauce and the sauce seeps inand makes it taste better. Things that arent in sauce , I have know idea ... Wonder why

A lot of times I think that too! I guess taste is subjective because I know a lot of people, including one of my sons, who won't touch leftovers.

It taste better because the flavors of the food comes together the longer you keep it (just make sure it is not expired!!! )

Because all of the seasonings and spices have had time to settle in the dish. I love leftovers too.

The seasoning has time to penetrate the food, so overnight, there is a little bit more flavor than freshly cooked food.

The seasonings and spices have had time to amalgamate into the dish.
