Why should I believe in him, I have had christians tell me all the storys from the bible, and that they have heard him and jesus talked to them. I don't buy it. If he was real wouldn't I know, wouldn't I not have any doubt? Plus whats makes hell such a bad place? Cause God says so? Isn't that like McDonalds telling you that Burger King is bad? Of course they want you to think hell is bad cause they want you to come to heaven. I just think that God is an imaginary friend for grown ups.

Christendom is suppose to represent God. But in actuality they misrepresent him. In-depth study shows there is no fiery hell. Would you torture your son or daughter like that? No, of course not.
Likewise the True God of the Bible would not, for he is a God of love. ---Read Psalms 83:18 in the King James Bible

And in fact, the condition of the dead according to the Bible is this. Notice Ecclesiastes 5:5,10 which says:
"For the living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead, they are CONSCIOUS OF NOTHING AT ALL, neither do they anymore have wages, because the remembrance of them has been forgotten. -- All that your hand finds to do, do with your very power, for there is no work nor devising nor knowledge nor wisdom in Sheol (mankind's grave), the place to which you are going.

The dead feel nothing so how can a fiery place hurt them.So why would God even have a fiery place if the dead cannot even feel his punishment. There is no fiery place. In a good dictionary, especially a Lexicon, the word for hell means "deep pit." Mankind's common grave. That's all.

The idea of a fiery hell came from pagan religions not from the God of the Bible . Christendom adopted this idea, starting with the Catholics. They followed philosophers instead of God's word.

Scriptures that may seem to incline otherwise just mean that the person has been judged so severely that they won't receive a resurrection. They will be completely gone forever.

The punishment for sin is death, or non-existence.
Romans 6:23

Dont confuse God with religion. There is nothing wrong in believing in god, I have seen such faith give people strength especially in times of sadness, Its religion you wanna stay away from. Imagine what god is to you, the strength and love you can get from the meaning of a god, lead a decent life and what i mean by that is do not harm or infringe others and stay away from such absurdities like christianty or islam. You do not need a book written by men 2000 years ago with an IQ of 12 to tell you how to live.

Religion tries to prove itself as moral and ethical yet the most moral and ethical people are non-religious people. I have no desire to kill muslims (christians) because I dis-agree with them. My belief in god is my own.

Any intelligent person questions and tests hypotheses that are put to them. It would take a fool to accept what they're told without having done so. You must ask: Why does this story from the bible have validity? In many cases, you'll find that beyond what you're told, it has none. You have intelligence. Use it. It's significant that, as Bertrand Russell pointed out, there is no mention of intelligence in the bible.

Robert Anton Wilson said "Belief is the death of intelligence". If you have no experience to confirm that there is a God then you don't have to believe in it just because others say so.

If you are really interested in It's/They're existence run some experiments. Try prayer, meditation, ritual magick, and any other practices from the myriad religions in the world. If you still don't uncover any evidence then you should probably not believe in It/Them.

You were meant to have a free choice. You can choose to find happiness in God or in earthly things. God is looking for people who have faith in him, not those that must prove every single thing. If God fully revealed himself to you, as you wish, you would be as an angel. In that case, if you had chosen once to side with the devil (as about 2/3 of the angels did) you are stuck in hell and there is no turning back. Keep in mind, there is no %100 proof of God for us like there is for angels, but we can sin and have our wrong-doings paid for by Christ..... Hell is described as a 'lake of fire' a place of fire and brimstond and a place of eternal torment... It doesn't sound too great of a place to me...

People ask for proof of God. Jesus Christ is God... if you want a fairly detailed explanation i found this man did a pretty good job with this site: www.seekthetruth.org

Sort of seems like you have your mind made up. :)

It's sort of a crap shoot; belief in God has helped many a person get through a tough time in their life. At the same time, it has led many people to believe that that which is different is wrong.

You have the right to think what you want; if you don't believe in God, you can still be a good person, just respect the beliefs of others.. If you do, more power to you -It couldn't hurt, as long as you don't use it as an excuse to hate.

Noah had an ark to build which took him many years. Noah knew there was a flood coming because everybody was sinning and ignoring God. Many were for warned to believe, obey and follow God but they all chose to ignore the warnings. The flood came, no one was allowed on board the Ark, it was too late. More recently, Jesus came so we might believe His message to change our ways and repent. He gave us an instruction manual to help us grow so we could prosper as our soul prospered. I want you to know about Jesus because this may be your only chance. You are alive now and will be for eternity, choose to live in heaven.

Yeah, go ahead and try it, you'll may even like it, but think of God as the energy that moves the Universe not as a person or a thing like an imaginary friend

I am sorry that you are feeling skeptical about believing in God. He is real and He wants to connect with you, but He won't push. If you pray, saying, "God, if you are real, if I need to believe in you, I will."
Hell is the most terrible destination ever. It is not an advertising gimmick. It is a real place, the only other place where people will spend eternity other than heaven.
Why should you believe in Him? If you recognize that you are a sinner and that you need God's forgiveness, you need to bring that to Him in prayer. God promises forgiveness to all who ask in sincerity. If you are not worried about your own sinfulness, then go have fun. Just do not be surprised about going to hell or about how terrible it is. I am not trying to scare you here, just to answer your question.

It used to be that if you didn't believe in God, you were an outcast... now its just the opposite! Satan has decieved so many, that people think its strange that a Christian might "hear" from our Creator. In all reality it is... I mean that He would take the time to listen to every word I say, and speak to me, and control my life right down to somethings so little I almost missed it... Our God is an AWESOME God!
