They are out there. However they are mostly low end cars. The 6 will not eat that much more gas, plus it will have more power to get you on the highway. My son in law wanted a 4 cyl. and I talked him into a 6 cyl Limited model. They are glad that they went with it. It has more luxury, and more options.

The price is steep for a Ford that is almost out of warranty. Reliability is not Ford's specialty unfortunately. Besides that, they are user-friendly and nice to drive. I would recommend that you consider a similarly priced Honda or Toyota model that would give you a similar driving experience, with similar roominess, but with much more reliability. This will be most important when you run out of warranty coverage. I would also recommend that you consider taking advantage of the certified used car programs. That being said about Ford, I would suggest that you take a look at Kia's offerings. Kia has really come forward in reliability as well as value. You could probably get a new Kia SUV for about the price of what you are considering with the Ford. H a p p y S a f e D r i v i n g !

Get the V-6. I own a 2007 ford escape V-6. Let me telly ou it was worth it. The 4 c doesnt give you enough power that a small SUV needs. There is plenty of cargo room, when the seets fold down there is a lot of room...like a looot of room. It has good gas mileage, and rides like a sedan but has the power of an SUv...I recommend you buy the V-6 but this SUV is a fantastic one.

I have a friend with a 2004 Escape, I have driven it quite a bit, it has a 6 cylinder, I find it comfortable, about 25 mpg imperial gallon, she has 135,000km and no problems, I don't believe you would get any better milage with the 4 cylinder as even the 6 is underpowered. the back seat goes down so there is quite a bit of space.

Stay away fron the 4 banger. The Escape is a great vehicle, but needs the V-6 engine. I own an '01 AWD Escape, and love it!!
