Ok heres the thing,im quite a big body modification fan..my parents have nothing against piercings.But when it comes to tattoos they are completely with their oppinion.e.g they claim that getting tattooed makes you marry a woman whos IQ reading is 20 points lower than you own...Whats your oppinions on this outragous claim?

So what they are saying is they think YOU will be dumber because you apparently won't be able to choose a smart, articulate woman if you get a tattoo? It kind of seems that it's you they are insulting.
They are from a different generation. Please don't take them seriously. Obviously if you value their opinion and it means that much to you to not upset them, then that's a different story. But don't decide NOT to get a tattoo for that reason.
My husband has been in hight tech for 18 years. We've been married for 20. We are both college graduates, have a wonderful son and own our own business. Depending on what we wear, most would never know we have tattoos.
Never judge a book by it's cover!
I'll have to give them props for conjuring up with an argument that I've never heard before :)

I have 5 tattoos... my man has 10... he is a staff Sergeant and works in medical records doing correspondence... I'm a cna and I'm in college to get my RN... I think your parents claim is ridiculous... but they are probably of a generation where things like this are looked down upon... and just because they think that only a stupid woman would marry a man with tattoos.. doesnt make it law.

what? that's stupid. my husband and i have actually been iq tested and we are within a couple of points of eachother. and we are both tattooed. do what you want to do just realize that tattoos ARE forever and they should be taken seriously since they'll be with you for life. what may seem awesome now could very well seem ridiculous and... stupid 20 years down the line.

Tattoos are a personal form of expression. In my opinion, I would rather have people around me that aren't afraid to express themselves and what they believe in.
As for IQ points, I know some absolutely brilliant men and women that have them.
Love isn't about IQ, or the ink you might have. I think that you love people for who they are, tattooed or not.

obviously getting inked doesn't make you unsmart. i have tattoos and graduated w/honors from college with a perfect gpa. what if your IQ is 175? then hers would technically be 155 which is high. so there's no stake to their claim at all. but you know that already. my bf doesn't have any tattoos at all and he's just as smart as i am if not just a tad more.

It is a very judgemental, cynical and stuck-up suggestion and I am pleased you havent adopted your parents narrow-mindedness! Tattoos are an art form and many very intellectual and/or spiritual people have them for this reason. A tattoo does not represent IQ - hey, that rhymes!

That is totally ridiculous!!! I am still as smart today (with my tattoos) as I was before I had any tattoos. I am college educated & have a very good job. No offense to you, but your parents must be crazy!!!

but I find it hard to believe that some people could really be this ignorant. I mean, I know they exist, but it really truly blows my mind.
Your outward appearance has NO bearing on you or your partner's intelligence. Obviously. It's completely ludicrous
