Well, alien life is a virtual certainty elsewhere in the galaxy. Even the existence of God is REALLY the affirmation of non-terrestrial life, since God had to get his start somewhere.

An excellent examination of this very question is found on the website Orion's Arm. Which follows the supposed expansion of humanity in/with "Star Trek" or "Star Wars" like fashion, through a much longer timeline.

It's interesting to see that in the end all we really need to suppose is that there were/was/is a superintelligent entity / species capable of engineering or ordering at least part of a solar system in order to have all of the criteria for what most people would consider God.

When you consider the order of energies and vast distances and timescales involved it's not that tall an order.

If we survive more than a few thousand years more, it's very likely we'll be doing the same things ourselves.

I think aliens are more probable than God. The universe is extremely vast and there are many other planets out there with conditions that could support life. Whether or not those aliens would have the ability to contact us is another matter.

On the God other hand, God is supposed to exist in a spiritual realm, which is a realm that there is no evidence for. God is also attributed many contradicting qualities and changes from culture to culture. So I think God existing is about as likely as me evolving wings overnight.

To assign probability to an event requires some evidence. In my mind, God exists...he has revealed his existence to me in a way that I am able to comprehend with my heart, soul and mind...I have all the evidence I need to know that God exists...thus, probability isn't relevant.

Now if I remove the lens of faith from my assessment, then I have to focus only on the evidence gathered through other means of perceiving the world. ...and I don't believe I could do that accurately because I can't imagine a life without faith (for me at least). Without the insights and evidence have access to through faith, I'd probably put the probability at about 55/45 in favor of the existence of God. As for the existence of aliens, the evidence I've seen indicates that the probability is about 50/50 in my mind...the best I can say is "maybe".

God is an alien who still exists.

good question, I wondered the same thing. I'm starting to think that God is an alien who started life here on earth. and from time to time they come to check up on us.

Absolutely, we are proof of this — and we're probably something else's extraterrestrial life (or god, who knows?).

And if (hypothetically speaking) a god exists, he probably needed to practice his biogenesis skills somewhere else before he could create us "to his image", and seeing that we were not picture-perfect, probably used us to practice in view of creating something even crazier lol

I am an atheist who has always thought it was arrogant to assume that our puny little planet contains the only intelliegent life forms in this massively vast universe.
I think it is rather conceited and bigotted to dismiss the idea of intelligent life else where in the universe.

No. That would mean that life spontaneously erupted by accident (a virtual impossibility in the first place) more than once.

To understand how unlikely that is, research just a LITTLE BIT on just how many factors come into play in sustaining life (to say nothing of supposedly GENERATING life) on our own little planet. (Distance from the sun, type of sun, presence of water, presence of our exact atmosphere, presence of all the chemical compounds necessary to sustain life-- and absence of the quantities of chemical compounds inconsistent with life that are found on myriad other planets, just to name a few)

Pst ...

Grace unto you, and peace,
from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Those called "alien"s in Bible experienced life + death;
Perhaps because they were "alienated" from Grace,
by a surely die law Moses added to grace is suffcient.

God exists in the realm of life only, and has no dead end.
Grace neither tempts(laws) nor can be tempted(lawed).
God (Grace) neither makes nor takes sides,
so he has no side effect such as a dead end.
His Grace cannot lie (law) nor die (law).
Law Law does both.

The GRACE of our Lord Jesus Christ with you all. Amen.

Let's see...

The possibility of a giant dude who lives in heaven who knows all, who created us all for no apparent reason whatsoever and who continues to wreak havoc on the earth- because he's such a merciful and loving God.

OR

Intelligent life that exists somewhere other than Earth. Thus, disproving the above theory.

I'm going to go with Yes.

*Edit: To the, um, "intelligent" lifeform who posted below me...
Prophets were looked down upon in the Bible. In fact, Deutoronomy says that we should kill those who proclaim themselves "prophets".... Just thought you should know the facts before ranting on about what others should do with their lives.
