Did they not break the law by hiding her away from justice for a year,and therefore anyone running that church should be arrested,right?

I don't know why because I (apparently) mistakenly assumed that aiding and abetting a criminal was in itself, a crime. If they chose not to enforce a law and take her out do you really think they'll bother with the church?

No, because they are not providing any actual aid.

The police can go in there any time they want. There is no concept in US law of "religious sanctuary" -- there hasn't been since the country was founded.

Police are voluntarily refusing to go in. So, at most, the church is guilty of providing food and shelter to someone who has violated immigration laws. And providing food and shelter to someone is not a criminal activity.

They were very careful to proclaim that they would not stand in the way of ICE if ICE came to arrest her.

However, I think the government would have a case.

Her stinking *** will be in Mexico soon enough. This level of disrespect for our laws should be intolerable. Wait til Thompson gets in office. It'll be round-up time.
