When my boyfriend went on a week vacation to the beach, he came back and he gave me 2 cute beachy necklaces and a cute ring (nothing major, just like an i miss you and am thinking of you gift).
When I went away for 2 weeks, i looked everywhere and couldn't think of anything to get him at all. So i didn't get him anything. But then a week later when I went on another vacation, I looked again but still couldn't find anything. I finally on the last day asked my dad what a 16 year old guy would want just as an i miss you and am thinking of you gift/souvenir thing. Since we were short on time, (we were on a cruise ship and we were about to depart from the land) my dad found those little paper/foam airplanes that you slip together real quick and they fly pretty good and are just fun. He told me that all guys like those. So i bought him one since I had no other ideas.
Do you think that this was a good idea to get, and guys would you like it? Should I give it to him or just forget it?

i am 14 and he is 16
(please, do not give me any words of wisdom saying that our age difference is to much. I love him and I know what he is like and i trust him in every way)

Oh sweet one, he is 16! He had gone to quite an effort to find two "cute" necklaces and a ring for the young lady in his life. How would it feel if he had brought you paper dolls or Barbie? I really am not trying to hurt your feelings, that is the last thing on my mind, but trying to show you how this must have felt.
Because you consider each other girlfriend/boyfriend even being as young as you are, it seemed almost like an insult to give him something he could buy at the 7/11 on the corner and not age appropriate at all; its like you gave no time to think of what would be nice for him. You might tell dad that you don't really want his opinion next time, I think he kind of sabotaged you.
You might think of how you can make him feel more cared about, like "I feel so bad about my "try to" gift that I would really like to take you to a movie" or something like that......and I would check out a nice chain or something personal from you to him that shows some caring thought.

Hello, =) any small and different thing is fine.
When my girlfriend went on vacations I asked her for little rocks from the place she were going to be, and I liked it.
I doestn matter how simple or cheap the gifts are, its the intention and a thing you will keep like a treasure.
Thats exactly what I like of her, she give me anything simple, she has show me that gift dont have to be expensive or extraordinary.
Every week you can give him small things, like pens, or draws, a letter, etc.. simple things
What I wont pardon is the ... umm "inequity"? sorry for my english
Just what you did, he took his time to remember you and bought something for you, and you did nothing!
Its a sin because we consider there is no such thing like "no time" you had 24 hours or more, and even a rock could be meaningful.
=)

Thats good enough. us teenage guys like those plains! Your boyfriend will relize that its the thought that counts and you missed him. Plus if you guys care about eachother as much as you say you guys do, it won't really matter if you get him anthything. Also, guys in the relationship at his age like getting things for the girl and really don't expect the girl to give anything back. Its a thing 16year olds guys do. They give the girl gifts and they really don't want anything back, but when they get something, they love it no matter what it is. Hope i helped.

No, I really don't...but as a dad it's exactly the kind of thing I would have picked out too under the circumstances. (Note: You'd better start picking out your own gifts because fathers will NEVER be good sources of input on what to get a guy you like because WE DON'T CARE about impressing this guy!) Next time: maybe a 5x7 framed photo of you on the beach?

To be honest, I think it's kind of an odd gift for a 16 year old. I would just get him a nice t-shirt from one of the places you went, or maybe a hat.

Hmmm. Completely unrelated to your journey, or the sites you've seen. I'd say, no, do not give it to him at this time. Save it for a future 'fun' gift, and then tell him you got it on vaction one day while you were thinking about him. Tell him you thought he'd find it a silly gift, and waited to give it to him. It will all be true!

It's the thought that counts and I have a feeling that he would have liked anything you got him. If you're unsure that he'll like it, give it to him anyway and say something like "I thought you'd get a kick out of this" so he'll know you meant it to be a cute souvenir.

Girls are usually easier to shop for than guys! I think the airplanes are a fun idea. Maybe you can pack a picnic and go to the park, then spring them on him! Then you'll have fun playing with them together.

To be honest, when I was 16, I'd rather have some duty free cigarettes or some Vodka. I'd rather have nothing than try to pretend to like foam planes. I was a rogue teen though.
