I've personally never heard of this rule. I agree that they shouldn't ask you how much money you make or to personal of sex questions before the first three. The only reason they ask the questions is to get to know you better. If you are asked a question you feel falls into the 3 date rule just politely tell him that you don't wish to answer him at this time with an answer its just a little personal. If he gets offended he isnt' the guy for you. If he is the right guy he will understand and wait a while until he tries to ask you again.

Umm, the reason for dating is to get to know someone. Those questions need to be asked sooner or later, and by the 3rd date, it seems like it's time.

No, I don't think most people know that rule. Did you make it up?
