You can buy a six pack for less than that. If an establishment is charging me $7 for a bottle of corona, I expect the tip to be included in that.

Lol these places that are chargin $6 or $7 for a beer are in the ghetto and are pretty run down...definetly not high class ****....i just go because of the underground **** they have.... i don't even drink much i just want to have one beer most of the time when i go out, and asking me $7 for a corona with a straight face seems kind of ridiculous

Any place that charges $7 for a beer is also serving wine for $8 or $12/glass, and mixed drinks in that same range. The clientele they expect to sit in their bar--no doubt, beautiful, and filled with beautiful people--are not merely passing along the cost of the ingredients (in this case, the beer). It's the chance to have the beer THERE: served to you by the professional behind the bar, serving in a certain glass, in an ambience that you obviously enjoy by being there. You buy into that...and you buy into the cost.
The tip is not a means of making such an expensive outing less expensive (by a buck?--come on). It's like the tax. It's like the cost of the drink. Just part of the experience. And it's the HUMAN part, no less. Be generous. Enjoy the entire experience, and think of it as part of your fulfilled desire to be there, drink beer, be seen, see others, etc.

When you order out, you need to pay the server for the service. Bartenders work for tips. People who have never worked for tips sometimes have a very hard time understanding the concept. A bartender is expected to be tipped 15%-20%(same as wait staff) of your total bar tab. Either by drink or 1 lump sum at the end of the night. Either is acceptable. However, if you want good service your entire night out, you may want to consider tipping each round purchased as this will allow the bartender to get to know that you are a respectable customer.

Obviously you have never worked as a server/bartender. For all the people who complain about tipping, try working just one night as a server/bartender. Tip them regardless and even better when you get good service. You EXPECT the tip to be included in your $7 Corona....try this, stay home and drink, you will save yourself about $4!!

Stay out of the bars, or go to Las Vegas....All drinks are free, you just have to tip.

Find another bar. I'm at a bar now (obviously, they have wi-fi) and I'm drinking Heineken draft. It's $4.50 for a pint.

you should tip a dollar or 2, but if you don't make 90k a year you should join the rest of us & drink primarly at home or in the parking lot.

If you can't afford to tip, you can't afford to eat (or drink) out.

Find a cheaper bar to frequent.
