im haveing trouble with my singing..well my chorus teacher says i do and theres 5 of us in the class (private school) and i will be doing a solo if there are any that we will be singing and because i am used to singing rock and pop music i "scoop" a lot...please correct me if im wrong because that' swhat my teacher calls it...is there any way to break that habit?

Sing into a tape recorder and listen to when you do not scoop. Scooping is when you start a note way below the actual note to be sung, and slide it to the note that was the original intended note.

It's an affectation acquired by listening to tons of pop and rock singers. Listen to show and Broadway and opera and you'll hear no scooping.

One way to correct it is to sing He on the intended note, getting out a lot of air at the outset.

Practice separating the notes with a space in between, trying to get the pitch exactly each time. Do...Me...So...then do them a little closer together, then finally connect them.
