Well this should work for you.

CANDIED SWEET POTATOES

4 sweet potatoes
1/2 cup dark brown sugar
1/4 cup frozen orange concentrate
1/2 cup sherry (optional)
1/4 cup butter

Scrub and boil potatoes until tender, about 25-30 minutes, depending on size. Peel, then cut into 1 1/2-2 inch chunks.
In an ovenproof casserole (or an aluminum foil loaf pan), melt butter with brown sugar and stir in sherry (optional). Add orange concentrate, stirring to combine well.

Put sweet potatoes in the casserole dish and coat well with the butter/sugar mixture.

Cover dish with aluminum foil to seal.

Bake in a 350°F oven for 30 minutes, turning to baste potatoes with liquid every 10 minutes or so.

For a true baked sweet potato, there's no need to boil it first. I scrub it like a regular white potato to remove the dirt, then poke it with a 2-prong fork then put it in an open oven safe dish (I use an old pie pan) and bake a medium to large sweet potato at 375 F for about one hour. Sweet potatoes have more moisture in them so I use a pan. If juices have browned around the pierced fork holes, it's probably done. You can tell by pushing on the skin lightly with a pot holder - if it gives some, then it's done. After getting it out of the oven, you can cut it half and add the butter and brown sugar. Maybe a touch of salt and pepper.

Boil them until you can stick a toothpick clear through them easily. About 10 minutes probably. Just don't boil them into mush. Before you put them in the oven be sure and add some oil and/or butter so they don't stick to the pan real bad. Bake them at 350 for maybe 5 to 10 minutes. Just long enough to carmalize the sugar. You can cover them with aluminum foil to speed up the cooking time if you want to.

Usually boiling them first it to get the skins off easier and I know that only takes about 10-12 min boiling. When you put them in the oven I would go at 10 min intervals and poke them with a fork to test them, they will become softer when they are done.

ok, i might think of that possibly a spiced pecan could be sturdy on a baked candy potato. what's offered interior the food market as "yams" and candy Potatoes are the two quite candy Potatoes. a minimum of interior the U. S. it is the case, shops interior the U. S. do not sell authentic yams. the only which they are going to mark as Yam is a lots darker and moist potato and greater around and the only marked as candy potatoes are many times lighter and greater dry and additionally thinner. a minimum of those I quite have considered. They do the two style quite distinctive so, in case you do in contrast to a minimum of one attempt the different.
