If you break your dad's trust, he'll probably be pissed.
I'm the oldest of 4 kids (at 22!) and the most technical person in my house. As such, I have banned the use of torrents and LimeWire on all PCs in the house. I also have an extremely strict firewall and very limited NAT in the modem/router.
The reason is, there are a lot more fake files on LimeWire than there used to be. EXE files containing all manner of badware. All it takes is someone to download and run "My Chemical Romance Song Downloader.exe" or "Official LimeWire Update! IMPORTANT!.exe" and that's the PC compromised. There are even files that pretend to be MP3s that aren't. Download and run one of these by accident and that'll be your PC full of spyware, or acting as a spam relay.
Remember: if you do download stuff, and it ***** up your PC (which, unless you're knowledgeable and very careful, it almost certainly will), you'll be responsible for your actions.

What legitimate use do you have for Limewire?
You father is right to be worried about using Limewire. Ethics and legalities aside, that's the best way to get a nasty virus on your computer.
Rather than steal music, how about using a service like eMusic or Rhapsody?
Also, maybe this will give you a reason to pester him to buy a legit copy of whatever software you are in need of.

Newsgroups are extra durable to apply yet enormously much impossible to get caught. do some reasearch on Usenet Newsgroups, your internet provider could have a unfastened newsgroup website you need to use. Limewire = BearShare= Kaaza they're all p2p sharing courses.

DO NOT DOWNLOAD LIMEWIRE it is illegal to download music without paying the copywright holder, and limewire gives you lots of viruses and spyware and stuff. Just go to youtube and watch the music videos. And hey you dont have to have music you know, im 13 and dont feel its manditory. No let me change that, its not manditory all the time.
Oh and its not "not that bad" its bad bad, and its getting worse all the time, so just be safe, and dont use it.

Change the icon and name of Limewire on your desktop.
Call it "Homework Helper" or "Bible Lessons"
Shareaza is a good program for downloading music too

Show him what it does, and also show him some of the results you get are not real porn but programs trying to get you :-)
Convinces a lot of dad's - makes you look responsable and trustable :-p

It's not that bad..but make sure you have an anti virus up and running...and be careful what you download.
