I am not. I don't condone suicide, but I believe that all religions are correct in the sense that there is an afterlife, and if you've led a respectable life, that you are bound to something greater than life in this plane. If you have not, then in some sense or another, you will be bound by your own guilt and torment for the decisions you made. Note: I think all religions are manmade, but they all graze upon the truth as well. They say it in different words, with different imagery and concepts.

There is no proof for this kind of thing. I said "I believe". There is no proof for any religious or spiritual belief. It all stems from experience and faith.

When speaking of death its always better to see what God's word says, for men have so many different ideas about death.
Ecclesiastes 9:5,10 Ecclesiastes 3:19 To put your trust in your fellow man is like rolling snake eyes. Just think about where those ones that believed in Heavens Gate are right now?
You would expect King David to be in the after life!

I'm going to ignore your question and question your answer.

You can't believe that all religions are correct in the sense that there is an afterlife in which you are rewarded or punished based on things done in your life, because not all religions believe that. In fact I would guess that the religious beliefs of the majority of the world's population doesn't believe that. I know Christianity doesn't, and it's the one that comes closest to what you describe.

I know that if my religion is correct, based on your commentary, I'd be very afraid if I were you.

Sometimes I am and sometimes not. I am a Pagan, and when I am out on the fresh earth looking into an endless universe I just feel that I am so much a part of it all that it will be alright, like being born was. I don't know how or what but i don't need to. Then other times when i feel how much i love this beautiful world and my family the thought of dying makes me very sad.

I am not afraid of the afterlife because I feel in my heart I will go to Heaven but I am afraid of that moment when death is near I am very afraid of that.. Will I be shot, or will I be gasping for life fighting as I die? Will I be drowned to death by someone, Will I be run over by a truck or a bus and die? Or maybe die in a bad car accident and be struggling for life but yet I die anyways? I'm not afraid of the afterlife but just going through death that one split second of flatlining and then maybe coming back for a second and suffering again and then going back into death then maybe I get revived but only for a few seconds where one minute I am floating to the afterlife and feeling no pain then they revive me back to life and I am feeling pain again like MAKE UP YOUR DANG MIND ALREADY AM I DEAD? OR AM I ALIVE?!!
I don't need proof to believe in God I believe in God and the Bible and thats all I need to believe in I don't need science to tell me that God doesn't exist or there is no Heaven because I know for a fact that God is for reals and Heaven is for reals.. Anyone that believes differently can go stick it where the sun don't shine cuz it is for reals.

If it was all imaginary you darn tootin' I would be..
but I know through faith, so I am not.
Read about a Church Father by the name of Albert the Great, he was a scientist and apparently he would have been great in Missouri, his whole motto was.. prove to me and I will believe. He was constantly experimenting with many things and for the times he found out stuff that is still valid science today. He found reason and faith compatible. You should look him up when you get a chance.

i am afraid of the act of death,my heart stopping beating,my brain not functioning anymore, shedding the skin I'm so familiar with but it's the only inevitable part of life so i have no choice but to accept something, and to waste life on worrying about something you cannot control is pointless,i believe in a life after death which is reassuring but also scary as what do we expect..none of us can answer...even us that have faith,I'm a catholic but still,i don't know what heaven will be like or if i will be worthy when My time comes, religion may be constructed by man,but it was so through the instruction of God,and each religion to their own,as we all have the same fundamental beliefs...

I use to believe as you do...

There is a "kink" in your "plan", though...

ALL major religions would esteem a "respectable life", as you say. They esteem "good things" and condemn "bad things"...all with the hope of reward in accordance to the life you live.

However, Christianity teaches something else...
Namely, that a person must be absolutely perfect and holy as God is perfect and holy in order to go to heaven. And, as you and I both know (and the Bible confirms): no one is perfect.

...and that is why God became man - Jesus Christ. And Jesus died on the cross to pay the penalty of the sins of those who believe in Him!

Thus, the only people who "are bound to to something greater than life in this plane" are those who have faith in Jesus Christ - believing in Him as a Savior, dying for their personal sins on the cross for forgiveness...

...and the rest...no matter how "good" they are...fall short of being absolutely perfect and holy as God is perfect and holy...

...and they "will be bound by [their] own guilt and torment for the decisions [they] made".

Outside of Jesus Christ, you should be afraid of death! No doubt about it! The only thing that separates you from an eternity of torment in hell is a few breaths of oxygen!

But, as with Paul in Philippians, I can confidently say:
For me, to live is Christ and to die is GAIN! (Phil 1:21)

So, no...I am not afraid of death...though, I don't look forward to the exact moment and the suffering I will indure. And perhaps then, some fear will creep in...but who can know...? But the concept right now seems far from me...and I earnestly await the time when I will be one with God in heaven for all eternity!

Actually, not to offend you, but I think every one is just a tiny bit afraid to die, I mean your never really SURE that theres an afterlife, you can only Believe. We always wonder where or how things will end and how they begin, but as they say, every ending is a new beginning, if there is an after life, I hope to live both lives happily.

Take advantage of five things before five things seize you; Your youth before Your old age, your health before your sickness, Your wealth before your poverty, your spare time before your being busy and your life before you death. Beware of Procrastination for you are (in) today and not (in) tomorrow. If there is a tomorrow for you, be tomorrow as you are today. If there isn't a tomorrow for you, you will grievously regret the opportunity you missed today.

How many a person there is who has met a day he didn't complete! How many a waiter there is of tomorrow who doesn't find it!

Had you known the exact period of time you will live you would hate hopes and their deception. Be in the world as if you are a stranger or like one simply passing by as in a journey and count yourself as among the people of the graves. When you wake up in the morning don't talk to yourself about tonight and when night has come don't worry of the mourning for surely you don't know what your state will be tomorrow.

Beware that may not over take you a fatal accident during stumbling. The stumbling will not be averted. It will not be possible to return (to correct your mistake). Will not praise you the one you left behind of what you left behind. Will not excuse you, the one you will meet God (Allah), of what you were so busy conducting (in the world, carelessly). Be greedier, in terms of your time (life span) more than of your gold and silver coins (wealth).

I am not speaking for everyone else, I am speaking clearly for myself but I believe that people do not fear death. I don't think that they are afraid of dying, death, or anything of the sort. They can say that they are - but I believe that people are afraid of the idea of dying - for many reasons. Maybe it's they're afraid of what age they will die at, or the more popular one, how they are going to die. For the longest time I swore that the only way I wanted to be killed was being decapitated. Sounds disgusting, but it's quick, and I believe [not obviously experiencing or knowing anyone who has been able to speak of experiencing decapitation] that you wouldn't feel it - quick and painless. I thought for the longest time that I was afraid of dying, but I'm not. I'm afraid of how I am going to die, and I am more afraid for those who I am going to leave behind than for myself. Everyone is going to die some day, and what you believe happens afterwards may be different from most people you know - but you should still embrace life since you never really know when you are going to die.
