Not so much 'forbidden'... rather, children are 'brainwashed'. For many, recovery of sanity later in adult life is impossible, as many never acquire the intellectual tools (rationality, critical thinking) necessary to overcome the implanted religious delusions. Religious indoctrination of children is an insidious form of mental, psychological child abuse.

Why do you assume that all children are raised in the faith of their parents but not their political beliefs?
As a parent I raised my children to share my beliefs about God because I believe they're correct. I also taught them that 2+2 is 4, the earth orbits the sun, don't touch the hot stove, and a thousand other things that I believe are true and will benefit them.
Children eventually reach the age where they can make their own decisions. Some stray from their parents' teachings and some stay with them.
I think your question mischaracterizes reality and misunderstands what it is to be a parent.

I was born and baptised a Christian. I am now a pagan so sure you can change if you feel the need. I am grateful to my Christian parents for teaching me about God and spirituality. I think it is important to give a child a faith to begin with as they can't choose for themselves and to bring up a child without spirituality of any kind is in my opinion neglect. What faith can you teach but your own?

No, it does not happen like that!!!! there is in basic terms one authentic faith, and that's Christianity, yet not the off shoot religions that are a million/2 authentic and a million/2 fake. you're able to have self assurance interior the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. I say that simply by fact a brilliant variety of the main effective line church homes don't think in it. Jesus suggested, "i'm the way, the certainty and the existence. No guy includes the father yet by skill of Me." John 14:6 examine the pink letters on your pink letter Bible and you gets the words of Jesus. try this now.

ron you have never helped bring up a child even though i mite be young it is important for children to have a religon to giude them throu life even if it is not a 1 they choose because as children they dont knw what is best for them later on in life if they choose to take on a new faith there is no reason why they should not be able to and parents who force thier kids to stay with the faith choosen by them are wrong to do so because a faith is a way of life and should be enjoyed except if the want to worship satan

All children reach an "age of accountability." In this age, they become responsible for what they believe, not their parents, background, upbringing, etc.
Within human nature itself lays "reasonable doubt," a maturing in which they question everything, especially what their parents believe. This is part of the maturity when the child wakes up and realizes his parents are not gods, just people prone to error and weakness.

Naturally parents are going to raise their children in their own faith, or lack of beliefs. (Or are you saying you would teach your children beliefs contrary to your own?) But you're completely mistaken about them questioning. As children grow into adults, they can and SHOULD question and study why they believe what they do. They absolutely need to understand what they base their lives on. Otherwise it's pointless.

Actually, most atheists were raised by parents who attempted to indoctrinate us - they just failed. But your point is valid; I think children should not be exposed to religion until they are old enough to pass a logic class - and doing so earlier should be considered child abuse. However, religion opposes this, and they have more money and power.

Children should have freedom of religion the same as adults too. Someday society will evolve to that point and none too soon.
