Well, you stated it in the form of a question, but it's clear from the details that you are not going to change your opinion, no matter what any of us say. Nevertheless, for the benefit of anyone who is interested, I'll tell you what I believe. And I have had two near-death experiences, so I am pretty firm in my belief.

I think we meet a guide who helps us to evaluate our current incarnation and help us to figure out what we still need to learn. Normally, if you really are dead, this guide also helps you to choose your next mother. But in both my near-death experiences, I had the option of going back, and an awareness of the fact that I still had much I could learn from this incarnation.
