I need to go from England to Hangzhou in China in September and I don't know the best (cheapest, safest) way to do it. I'm female and I'll be travelling alone with my six month old son.

It seems like it might be easier to get a flight to Hong Kong and then travel to Hangzhou from Hong Kong but I'd welcome any advice anyone has on this?
thanks

Contact Mr. Kar at this company (in the Strand in London).
My preferred route would be to get the cheapest possible ticket - currently Lufthansa) to BEIJING and then get an onward flight. More choice than Hong Kong or Shanghai
BTW Hangzhou is a lovely city. Not too noisy and very clean. Be sure to see the wild tea growing near to the Xi HU (West Lake) and also to eat fish whilst you are there!

Check the air fairs to Hong Kong but also Shanghai (Pudhong AIrport) Once you are in China, the flights are not long. Also, your lay-over between flights and stop overs are how you will waste a lot of time.

There is no one answer. Check the flights and compare. Have fun. I love China!

I'm not sure there is a flight to go to hangzhou from england directly. anyway you don't have to stop by hongkong just to go to hangzhou. i live in shanghai and it's so close to hangzhou. it just takes 2hrs from shanghai to hangzhou by bus, train whatever. i'd like to recommend if there is no direct way to go to hangzhou from england, just come to shanghai and you can find so many ways to go to hangzhou. there are so many travel agencies for you. As you know shanghai is international city. there are so many stuffs for foreigners. don't worry. and shanghai and hangzhou is quite safe cities.
