Hitler may in public have claimed to be doing the will of God, but records of his private conversations show otherwise. Many of these were recorded by his secretary and published in a book called "Hitler's Table Talk" (Look, A SOURCE!)

Here are some quotes Hitler made:

"Christianity is a rebellion against natural law, a protest against nature. Taken to its logical extreme, Christianity would mean the systematic cultivation of the human failure."

"Christianity has reached the peak of absurdity.... And that's why someday its structure will collapse.... "

"Christianity is the liar"

"The reason why the ancient world was so pure, light and serene was that it knew nothing of the two great scourges: the pox and Christianity."

"We'll see to it that the Churches cannot spread abroad teachings in conflict with the interests of the State."

"Christianity is an invention of sick brains: one could imagine nothing more senseless"

"There is something very unhealthy about Christianity."

Atheists love to use Hitler as an example of Christianity. But interesting enough, sounds like the things that came out his mouth in private (when not making a speech) was the same crap atheists spread today. of course he would want to APPEAR Christian....afterall, that was a part of his sick scheme. Do you think he would have the followers he had if he did otherwise? What do you think?

Worzel, your argument is meaningless. Did I not say in the very beginning of my post that he APPEARED to believe in God in public (i.e. in his speeces). The quotes I sited were from recorded, PRIVATE conversations. Thanks for trying though.

Hitler misused magick and was heavily into the occult for all the wrong reasons. I don't think he ever claimed to be a Christian, but since he did study and use the mystic beliefs, I would not be surprised if he was into the mystical side of Christianity.

True, as a small boy he was confirmed a Catholic, he once claimed as an adult that he had always been a Catholic, and he did have an interest in Catholic relics.

On the other hand, various things he said also suggest belief in Fascism, Communism, evolution, Atheism and even Paganism. It is most likely that he would claim just about anything to advance his agenda.

Some other Nazis were Christians and the SS had belief in God on their belt buckles, for what it's worth. Hitler himself was neither a Christian or an atheist. Indeed if you look at what he promoted it was practically a religion with himself as the god.

If anyone is interested in looking into this, check out the link below. The reality is that Hitler's views are subject to interpretation.

Still, why does it matter to either side? Whether or not he was a christian, his actions can not be blamed on his faith. All religions have had to deal with evil people who claim to believe that religion. Atheism is no exception.

If you want to discuss the holocaust as it relates to christianity, discuss how European christianity's treatment and view of the jews made the holocaust easier for christians to accept but the holocaust remains Hitler's evil, not the church's.

Because Christ was Jewish it would be impossible for Hitler to be Christian.
Whether or not Hitler was Christian has nothing to do with the merits of Christianity.
There have been many thousands of mass murderers who claimed Christianity just as there have been many thousands of mass murderers who claimed atheism.
On the Christian side, we know that the Catholic church alone was responsible for centuries of persecution resulting in the deaths of millions. Jews, Muslims and hundreds of thousands of Christians who were deemed heretical were tortured and killed.
On the atheist side, look no further than Joseph Stalin.
People who argue by saying "Look! So and so was a Christian!" or "This guy was an atheist! Look! Look!" simply reveal their own foolishness.

Perhaps Hitler knew exactly what he was doing was wrong--to an extent. He probably took the idea that only those who believe in christ can enter the kingdom of heaven--took the title as a Christian thinking that he would be forgiven and look like the good guy? He was insane, after all.

Hitler like many others used Religion as a tool for control.

Adolf Hitler and his Nazi regime were in fact [German] / Nazi Christians who observed Christian holidays and traditions --but with a *twist*. His mother was a devout Catholic and there is a photo of him [with his officers] visiting and paying homage to her grave.

The *twist* in Hitler's version of Christianity is that he wanted to unify the Nazi church with the state, and he had plans to exterminate certain "sub-human" races, starting with the Jews primarily.

While the quotes that you cite may be true, you and I don't EXACTLY KNOW what he meant when he said "Christianity", do we? It could have been aimed at the Catholic Church, or the Lutheran Church that remained very strong in Germany during the 1930's and 1940's. The fact is, we don't really know...

Here are some photos to see for yourself. You be the judge...

Only God can answer this. However the bibel said to look at the "fruit" & well looking at history & the "fruit" of what Hitler did is defently non-christian, he was a rotten fruit, spoiled, bad, , IF he did accept God in the end I hope God has mercy on him on judgement day.He killed a lot of Gods people, not only Jews(though that is the main group) but also a few Jehovah's Witnesses (with whom I asosciate with)& many others not respecting him.
He was playing judge & executioner&only God can do that.
So the answer to me is no he was not a true chiristan, he was a false one.

A source of highly questionable provenance. Funny, after any noted leader dies, there are often claims of deathbed conversions - why are Christians so reluctant to claim their biggest hero? Hitler's philosophies, BTW, were based on Martin Luther's writings, and anyone who reads them can see Hitler did exactly as expected.

yes he was!

Therefore, I am convinced that I am acting as the agent of our Creator. By fighting off the Jews, I am doing the Lord's work.
-- Adolf Hitler, Mein Kampf

Secular schools can never be tolerated because such a school has no religious instruction and a general moral instruction without a religious foundation is built on air; consequently, all character training and religion must be derived from faith.... We need believing people.

-- Adolf Hitler, April 26, 1933, from a speech made during negotiations leading to the Nazi-Vatican Concordat of 1933, quoted from the Freedom From Religion Foundation quiz, "What Do You Know About The Separation of State and Church?"

How fortunate for leaders that men do not think (also, “What luck for rulers that men do not think”).
-- Adolf Hitler (attributed: source unknown)

We stand at the end of the Age of Reason. A new era of the magical explanation of the world is rising.
-- Adolf Hitler, quoted from Victor J Stenger, Has Science Found God? (2001)

by the way, where did you locate your quotes?

Edit: So, for the sake of argument, Hitler ISN'T a Christian. He also didn't say he wasn't one either. What about Torquemada? Charlemagne? ANY leader during the crusades? In truth, leaders find religion useful, even though they may not necessarily believe in it. However he was raised Catholic, was baptised, and used Christianity to sucker the masses (like so many preachers do). I think you are apologizing for someone who was able to manipulate the clearly jumbled writing in the Bible, and used it for anti-semitism (did you know that Martin Luther the "Great" reformer, was a raging anti-semite?). And finally, you are assuming that his secretary is telling the truth in her diary, and not just spouting off what she thinks she remembers.
