Wait a minute here, the question was can you own a car in another state with plates for that state even if you live in another state. The answer is yes (you just may not drive it in Florida without getting Florida plates) As for not having an address in that other state that's easy to solve, just get a P.O. Box at the Post Office, or use a friends address.

i do no longer comprehend notwithstanding if this is a legal, this may well be state based. The question is what do you recommend via "residing" in yet another state. i grew to become into on an prolonged term (greater effective than 9 months) task in MN whilst my place of living is in WI. I had WI plates --- I went living house very almost in line with week. There are MN people who do the opposite. i think of the state could might desire to coach the you meant to ward off taxes in one state. My id never replaced. My employer enjoying cards never replaced. I had to document income tax in the two states then look ahead to a reimbursement. So the question is how does one define state of place of living? Is a school scholar a resident of yet another state, if he lives in a dorm and works at MickeyD? it may be queer to have the U of GA bill a scholar as an out of state scholar whilst the line tax police hit her up with a legal for working in that state?

Unless you are in college or the military, Florida is real tough on having out-of-state plates. They cruise factory parking lots looking for plates. If you get more than one ticket, they will come after you in person. Working in Florida means you are a resident and must have Florida plates and drivers licence. They give you 30 days to comply.

Your plates and your drivers license should match. If you have a Florida drivers license, then you should have Florida plates on the car. If you buy a car in Georgia, then the car should be registered in Florida.
Military is an exception, since your home state is your permanent address.
I hope that I understood the question correctly.

Nope, not normally. There are two general exceptions, for military personnel stationed outside their state of legal residence (domicile) and college students attending school out of state. Students and GIs may maintain their home state tags or register in the state where they attend school or are stationed, as appropriate.

No. Your vehicle must be regsitered in your state of residence. It's a hefty fine in Arizona if you have permanent residency here and your vehicle is licensed in another state.
