I have done everything including buying these blue things at walmart for the dog to wet on. They look like incontinence pads. Nothing works. I would like to clean up the utility room and put some nice throw rugs down, but if I do the dog will wet on the rugs while I am at work. Any suggestions how to get her to stop?

I take her outside. We have a fenced in back yard. She has the run of the yard, house and garage. I cannot leave her out when the weather gets cold. She is sneaky. She does it when I leave, even after she has been outdoors and walked and the whole 9 yards. She is just a pissy little dog.

I laugh when I read your question. I had a chihuahua for nearly 15 years Lots of Luck. The only resolution is no rugs

try crating her while you are gone. when you are home keep that door closed so she cant go in there. if you are using the puppy pads for her to pee on you might be confusing her of where the proper place is to go potty. that might be the reason that she is peeing on the rugs. i would stop using the pee pads and just start a routine of taking her outside about every 2 1/2 to 3 hours while you are at home. you can try that and see if it helps with the problem.

You could try crating her while you are away from the house. It is good for a lot of reasons. She could be urinating because she is feeling nervous when you leave. The crate gives them a sense of security. Also take her out regularly. Make it a routine at the same time each day. Hope this helps.

Well ideally if you take them out atleast twice a day, once in the morning and once after their evening meal at the least they shouldn't need to pee whilst they're inside the house. If they're doing it an awful lot then they may have a problem that the vet could help with.

I suggest you if your dog pees on the new rug clean it with a special pet odor and stain remover because your pet will keep peeing on it if it still smells it enzymes in its urine from which it peed before.

I would keep your dog crated during the day. My obedience trainer told me thats the best thing for dogs when their owners cant be home. Its worked wonders for my lab. It keeps them feeling safe and a dog never wants to sleep in its own urine so they wont pee in there.

Also don't use ammonia based cleaners on your rugs, because it smells similar to urine and that can stimulate your dog to go on them.

Do you leave the food there? Time his feeding. Also correct him when he's about to. Put on viniger on the spot where he peed.
