I would have felt insulted as well. Some people just feel they're helping by giving unsolicited advice. If I can, I usually just smile and thank them for their input.
Please don't let this ruin your day.

Some people don't get it, mother of 3 girls here youngest being 11 weeks.
Now, insulted here was when my 3y/o's speech therapist came one day with a fact sheet on how to feed my kids! Yes, after 3 years of raising babies and being pregnant for 4 years straight, she actually handed me a sheet stating exactly how to feed your kids from birth to 3 years. Course i just smiled as sweet as i could but in my mind i was yelling what are you thinking? I have 3 kids and they are all healthy and vibrant and you're telling me how i should feed them.
Some outsiders don't get it, and it was 90 here today with cloud cover and thunder (no rain), my 2 older girls played wearing just a pull up (because of the paddling pool) and me and my 11 week old sat on the porch, she wore a bodysuit.
Well i guess us two neglectful mothers better go run for that Flu vaccine huh
lol

Any chance he was joking? has it been hot where you live recently? It was 90 degress here yesterday, and it's cloudy, raining and only about 65 today. Maybe he was just trying to make a joke about how crazy the weather can be.
I am from a state where it is not out of the ordinary to use your a/c and heat in the same day.
lmao @ sleepy

Screw her!! Who the hell catches pneumonia in 70 degree weather. What an idiot!! Who asked for her stinking opinion anyway? Just deliver my mail and be on your merry little way. I live in Lousiana and unless 70 degrees is different in other places(NOT) I go around without a shirt. 70 degrees is hot. She's a moron. Who cares what the mail lady thinks anyway? I would of told her to mind her own frickin business.

I would feel very insulted too. She could just be jealous so many people are jealous of what other people have. I would just tell her that you have been a mom for awhile and that your pretty sure that 71 degree weather is not going to hurt a 4 month old baby. I am sure you are great mom don't let it get to you. It is good for kids to get fresh air.

Try to look at it a more positive way: Your mail carrier was taking an interest in the health and wellbeing of your child. Even though she was wrong, and her manners attrocious, instead of feeling insulted just remember that she was trying to see that your baby was well cared for, and do what you do with any other unsolicited parenting advice: ignore it.

was he dressed for 71 degree weather? Was the postal worker just trying to be nice and find something to talk about? Sometimes people are nervous and just trying to do their best to say something useful. Much like yahoo answers.

does your postal carrier know you are NOT a new mom? maybe you should take it as a compliment because he did not figure out you already have given birth to 4 other children?
By the way, how many kids does he have?

I don't care if you have 35 kids, or this is your first...your postal carrier delivers the mail...the is the extent of her involvement in your life.
IGNORE HER

How did you have your child dressed??? If he had some clothes on him then fine, but it all depends on where you live, which you failed to neglect, and it could be 71 degrees and humid or 71 degrees and no humidity, and 71 degrees and no humidity can be pretty chilly to a 4 month old baby.
You mentioned that you have other kids, so I am not questioning your parenting ability, but some people when they see a child maby not properly dressed, they get concerned, I would just take what he said with a grain of salt, and continue to dress my children properly according to the weather.
