If you want security on your card, write SEE ID on back of the card. However, most people don't ask for ID when you make a purchase. But in case your card is lost or stolen, they can't copy your signature, and you have better chance to fight for the claims. Some places ask you to key in your PIN number or select as credit. If you don't feel comfortable to key in your PIN number, then you can select to use it as credit card.

Some stores make you, some don't. Most assume that if you know the PIN, you are ok to use the debit card.

Not normally, and if your debit card has your picture on it, it can also serve as an ID card.

Not if you use it as a debit card and enter your PIN.

If you use it as credit and sign, they might ask for ID.

Congratulations on your debit card. You don't usually have to show an I.D., but you do have to sign a little receipt that goes in the cash register.

The only time I've had to show my I.D. was when I was in the bookstore at my university........and even then, I only had to show them my student I.D., not my state I.D....

Happy shopping!

They're supposed to see if it's signed and if not, check an ID, but most stores don't.
