Hi there Tiffin, You wont need your renewal notice. The post office will issue you with a new tax disc if you take your log book, Certificate of motor insurance, and your m.o.t. If you have not got a log book, then take in your old tax disc, this will have your validation character on it....this is next to your registration mark. The post office can key your details into their computer manually. I issue tax discs every day at work.
Let the DVLA know your new address so that they can send you a renewal notice. There is also a section in your log book where you can fill in your new address and hand in at the post office, they will send it off to the DVLA for you. By the way, the V10 form does not exist anymore for use in the post office.
All the best. :o)

Just take your logbook, MOT and insurance verification to the Post Office. You'll walk out a few quid poorer but with a fresh tax disc. You don't need the renewal form, the Post Office has everything you need in order to tax your vehicle.
You can also do it on the DVLA website but be SURE that they have your current address details AND you do it far enough in advance that you receive your new disc before the old one expires. If you do it late, it will still be an offence to have your car on the public roads without a current tax disc on display even though the DVLA have you on the computer as having a current disc.

If you are taxing your car you need a V5 (registation document) for the car you wish to tax, your certificate of insurance and valid MOT for the vehicle. If you have have moved and not sent off your V5 yet you can fill in your new address details on the form and leave it with the post office once you have used it to tax your vehicle and they will send it to the DVLA for you.

Go to the post office with your last tax form you received and sorn it, it costs nothing. Statutary Off Road Notification, it`s a legal requirement and you will have an automatic fine of £80 if you don`t do it.
