A strong and amazing woman... There are so many to choose from!
Catherine of Sienna - She was a pious woman who sometimes had visions and carried the stigmata of Christ. She was a theologian and a counselor of popes. One of only three women declared to be a doctor of the Church. Strong and intelligent.
Therese of Lisieux - Called 'the little flower of Jesus,' she became a Carmelite nun at age 15. Quiet and loving, she wrote about her path towards God. She is credited with many miracles and also was named a doctor of the Church. "For me, prayer is a surge of the heart; it is a simple look turned toward heaven, it is a cry of recognition and of love, embracing both trial and joy."
Irene - her name means 'the peaceful one.' In 303 AD, she was caught in posession of Scriptures. Ordered to renounce her faith, she refused. She was placed in a brothel, but miraculously left untouched. Finally, choosing to stay true to her faith, she was martyred.
Clare of Assisi - Inspired and aided by St. Francis, who became her friend and mentor, she founded an order of nuns now called the 'Poor Clares.' Her parents tried to hold her back but could not, and soon her sister and many other young women joined her. Everywhere the Franciscans went, the Poor Clares went also. Clare loved music and was a strong, eternally optimistic soul.
Joan of Arc - Originally a shepherdess, she came to lead the French army and is called the Savior of France. She was captured and sold to the English, and during her subsequent trial she never gave in but rather defended her actions and her beliefs in language that was simple but forceful. She was wrongfully convicted of heresy and burned at the stake.

Congratulations!
Anyway, I do believe that a saint should serve as a role model for someone who would make it a patron. However if you would ask me for a female who is strong and is known for her works, i think I could advise some.
1. St. Therese of Lisuex - though called a little flower, her determination is as strong as steel. She was elevated to sainthood just few years after her death and just among the 3 women declared doctor of the church. what is ironic in her is that she did not travel, did not write many book or made exceptional sermons - she just loved God with all her heart.
2. St. Maria Goretti - now if you consider yourself a fan of virginity then you can consider her. she chose to die that to have sex with a young man. what is wonderful in her story was the fact that her mother attented her canonization and that her murderrer repented

Well there's the Blessed Virgin Mary. My patron saint is St. Therese of Liesuex (i think i spelled that right). How about St. Joan of Arc? She's a strong willed woman who stood up for her country and God.

A recommendation of a modern day, recently beatified female - MOTHER TERESA of Calcutta.
She is now a saint, and is properly called "blessed" by all Catholics. She is Saint Teresa. You can use the net to find her history and will probably cry as you read about her. I believe you would be very proud to honor her as your confirmation name.

St Mary Magdalene "He Is Risen"
First to Witness the Lord Resurrected
First to Proclaim The Resurrection
Legend says She was set adrift in a boat on the Mediterranean without oars.
Arrived in what is today France and converted the entire nation and king by teaching the trinity after they witness her quiet example of pious living
I've prayed to her and received instantaneous results

How about Sarah?
1 Peter 3:1 Likewise, wives, be subject to your own husbands, so that even if some do not obey the word, they may be won without a word by the conduct of their wives-- 2 when they see your respectful and pure conduct. 3 Do not let your adorning be external--the braiding of hair, the wearing of gold, or the putting on of clothing-- 4 but let your adorning be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God's sight is very precious. 5 For this is how the holy women who hoped in God used to adorn themselves, by submitting to their husbands, 6 as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord. And you are her children, if you do good and do not fear anything that is frightening.

That was the closest I could get to getting a sort of compilation of female saints.
What you can do is wikipedia each one individually and decide which one is for you.
