Answer: Using NIV, your verse is from Matt 26:6-13. The others are located in Mark 14:3-9, Luke 7:36-50, and John 12:1-8. The woman's name is Mary, who lived a sinful life.
Comment: Matt 26:13"I tell you the truth, wherever this gospel is preached throughout the world, what she has done will also be told, in memory of her." You can find what she did in verse 7. In verse 13, we are told that "what she has done" will be remember, not her name.
Question: Is Mary the women in John 8:2-11?

The passage begins at Matthew 26:6. The woman in question entered this home where Jesus was eating and anointed him with perfume. The disciples complained that this perfume could be sold and the proceeds given to the poor.
Jesus remarks that the woman's selfless act would be retold wherever the Gospel is preached in the world.

Okay it has been a while since I read that, but isn't the woman Mary Magdalene and did she not just anoint Jesus with perfume worth years wages? I could be wrong as I am too lazy to get my bible down and look it up.
Anyway I have heard sermons on her many times when I was a Christian, in fact I preached a few myself.

It is being obeyed. Whereever the gospel is preached, her story is told, since it is in the gospels.

John's account in John 12:1-3 shows it was Mary, the sister of Martha and Lazarus (yes, THAT Lazarus) who poured the oil upon Jesus.
This command is being done as reflected in Matthew 24:14; 28:19-20 now in all the earth.

She was Mary Magdalene, she was a harlot who repented and was so grateful to Jesus for the sacrifice she knew He would make for her so that she could be forgiven that she took some expensive anointment and bathed Jesus' feet with the anointment and her tears, and dried His feet off with her hair. It was a very touching and deep moment, yet some of His disciples did not understand it and complained about the waste of the anointment, and others complained because they knew she had been a harlot and in Jewish culture such a woman would be deemed "unclean" and not allowed to be touched or touched by. I like what God told Peter in a vision later on "What God has cleansed call thou not common or unclean".
Jesus stated that the harlots, tax collectors and other sinners (who repented) would enter heaven before the religiously proud Pharisees ever would.
Jesus was so impressed with this woman's sincere repentence and her understanding of His pending sacrifice that he prophecied that this woman would be remembered through the ages... and indeed her deed is remembered in the Bible for all to read. Many women in the Bible are noted for their exceptional faith.

Many think it was Mary the sister of Lazarus, some say Mary Magdalene and every time the gospel of Matt. is read she is remembered to this day.

There is no point to these verses, no matter the woman. Jesus is annointed with oils after his crucifixion which would have been correct protocol. There is an act, an explanation, praise, and a question, but no reasonable answer.

What order? They/we are just to remember that it was a woman of no importance that knew the truth and poured ointment on his body, to prepare for his burial. The others (all men by the way) were blind thru the entire ordeal.
