The original was made by envenoming of horses and extracting the serum from their blood. What's normally used now (for pit vipers) is fractionated antibodies from sheep. Try http://www.rxlist.com/cgi/generic/crofab.htm for details.

It is milked from actual snakes and then purified. There was a gentleman in Florida who used to milk snakes for anti-venom. He owned a reptile farm there. He has been bitten so many times they say he is immune to the venom.

they collect all snake venom's and sometimes the mix the venom's together but most the dilute and purify it and i think they test it on animal or something like that 2 c if it works*
