Since I was a child I was told that God was up in the sky sitting on the clouds and that's where Heaven is too.
But, why don't we see the pearly gates of Heaven and God sitting there when we fly?
I usually fly (yes, in a aeroplane) from the US to England a minimum of about 8 times a year and around Europe and yet I haven't once seem Him or Heaven. So where are they? Or have it got it wrong? In which case please guide me in the right direction as my parents aren't very religious.

OH SAVE ME JESUS!!!

Well WHAT a convience that we can only see something that can't be proved to exist when we die hey?
Just like the "Thou shalt not test the Lord" is such a convinience too!

I'm 17, the reason I keep travelling is because my mom lives in England and my dad is in the US.

Actually, I just got a thought and its probably better that they're not in the clouds because think how many angels a Boeing 747 would take out!!!
And I don't think God would be happy if an American Airlines aeroplane accidentally hit him.

Well I generally think of God as being all around, everywhere.
Heaven you are right and even God we point up there.

It would be great if we could see the gates and maybe even St. Peter with a good telescope.
He he
Maybe they are higher then your plane can fly.
Though waving to St. Peter as you pass would definatly prove something.

Thats a very hard quetion becayse none of all people in the world knows that answer. There is aother possibilitys that god may not live up in the sky or down below beneath the ground. We never see him...NEVER maybe not even religious people ever in the whole intire world have seen god or heaven... maybe there is no god maybe there is no heaven myabe its just a long ago story which somone made up because they were desperate for attention...maybe after we past away we just go on to a new life without spending time at heaven we dreamed about.
Theres alot of quetions and there are lot of answers but we all know that theres more quetuions then answers

My friend....read what Jesus said about His kingdom to Pilate

He never said it was up in the clouds....but He did say where He goes, no other man can go...

Now...move ahead to Revelation...read the last 2 chapters...there's the description of Heaven as it was revealed by Jesus to John through vision.

And please note that it WILL be a physical location on this earth...it will be established. Does this mean a door to another dimension will open up, that it will fall from the sky, or just appear in the blink of an eye like the rest of the cosmos did?

I don't know...and I don't know where it is today....what I do know is where it will be after the final battle between good and evil is fought and evil is defeated.

God is in the Third Heaven.

2 Corinthians 12:2
I knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago, (whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) such an one caught up to the third heaven.
First Heaven= The sky above us where the birds fly.
Second Heaven= What we call Outer Space.
Third Heaven= God's Heaven.

God is in the 3rd Heaven. The first heaven would be seen as the atmospheric heavens.
This is where Satan works. (Eph. 2:2; also Rev. 19:17).
This is the clouds and where the birds fly. (Ps. 8:8, 77:17-18, 79:2, 104:12).

The second heaven is the starry heavens.
This is the moon and the stars. (Gen. 22:17, Ps. 8:3, Isa. 13:10)
This would be the place the planets inhabit. (Ps. 19:1; Gen. 1:14-17).

The third heaven is the abode of God.
The third heaven would be the place the where the throne of God is. (Matt. 5:34, 6:14, 24:36)
Paul speaks about a man being caught up into the third heaven. (2 Cor. 12:2)
Paul says God took him to heaven, told him things that he couldn't share to others. (Matt. 5:45, 6:9, 16:17)
When the Bible speaks of the heavens passing away. (2 Pet. 3:10),
It is speaking of the first and second heavens being destroyed, but not the third heaven.
That is what we think of when we speak of heaven and going there to dwell.

How old are you?

If you believe in God then he is always with you and Heaven is beyond the sky.

Only if you believe though, you may have a different view on a God and life. You will have to find out what you want to believe in.

Your parents are not very religious, but they names you Christian? That's unique...But anyway, on to your question.

Everyone has their own idea of what God is. Very few people in the world believe in the Christian idea that the afterlife consists of pearly gates and a giant bearded man in the sky. Every organized religion has their own unique perspective on God.

I would encourage you to read up on as many religions as possible, whether at the local library or on the internet.

To share my belief with you, I believe that YOU are God. I believe that I am god. I believe that each person is their own omnipotent being. I believe that any religion that subscribes to the notion that if you "sin" you will spend eternity in some sort of "Hell" is absurd. But, that's me. The great thing about humans is that we have the right to choose our beliefs.

Best of luck to you :)

Ciao!

Heaven is just a metaphor. You don't actually see it. God is everywhere, an entity that transcends time and space. People relate as Heaven being above us because that's where they believe God watches over us, but there's no specific area for God and Heaven...it's all around us.

That was a figure of speech for a child. Now that you're grow, you know that Heaven or Hell are not in specific places. God is an Entity, therefore no where to be seen. No more than your soul can be seen. God is either in your heart or not. Choose right.

I believe that god lives in the spiritual plane and though it's your choice as to whether or not you believe in god or the supernatural you don't have to make fun of those that do. Heaven is what you make it just like life and heck all on different planes.
