Depends on how much time you have...slow on low is best, around 8 hours or so, but if you are in a time crunch you can do it on high for about 6. It will also add a lot of flavor if you brown it in a heavy skillet first, before putting it into your crock pot. Add some stock (or water), some garlic, onion, herbs and veggies if you like - just don't cut the veggies up too small or they will end up like mush!

For a good tender roast, cook at least 8 hours on low......If you are a little rushed for time, you can do the first 2 hours on high, then switch to low for 4 more......Don't open the top to check until the last hour - you will know when it's done 'cause the meat will just start to fall apart!!

For seasonings, I like to use a package of Lipton onion soup mix, a can of cream of mushroom soup, 1 can water, 2 tablespoons worchester sauce & 1 stick of butter. Add veggies the last two hours to keep them from overcooking......Don't forget the cornbread!

Next time may I suggest a Reynold's cooking bag? Brown the roast on the stove. Put the roast and drippings in one of these bags and cook in the oven. It holds all natural flavors and juices, and takes about an hour. :D Peace and Blessings

Unless you've been hiding under a rock for the last couple years, I'm sure you've heard of the Paleo Diet. Read here https://tr.im/paleorecipes
I hate to even call it a diet, because it's really just the real way that humans have eaten for almost 1.9 Million years, as opposed to the modern-day processed food diet full of grains, sugars, and processed vegetable oils.

I would say about 8hours on low and 4 on high. You will know when it is done cause it will just fall apart. Omg that sounds so delicious right now. I often will mix it with a 1/2 cup water and a packet of Mrs. Grass' Onion soup mix.
