I was going to say cream cheese before I saw your options, so go with the white chocolate cream cheese!

I would go with the whipped cream! The strawberry flavor is soft and delicate and summer-like... I wouldn't weigh it down with heavier frostings. Keep the buttercream and cream cheeses for richer cakes that will withstand the heavy flavors!

This is the recipe I use to frost my strawberry cake.
Frosting:
8 ounces cream cheese, softened
1 stick butter, softened
3 cups confectioners' sugar, sifted
1 cup fresh ripe strawberries drained
½ cup unsweetened coconut
1 cup chopped pecans
For frosting, combine the cream cheese and butter on low speed for about 30 seconds. Add the sugar and drained strawberries. Blend the frosting on low until the sugar has been incorporated. Then raise the speed to medium and mix the frosting another minute or until the frosting lightens and is well combined. Fold in the coconut and the pecans.

I'd have to say the whipped cream cheese frosting - it isn't so intensely sweet as the other types of frosting... strawberry cupcakes are already quite sweet on their own, so the cream cheese would offset that just a bit.

Whipped cream frosting sounds good to me. Just put confectioner's sugar in the container of frozen whipped cream (thawed), add some strawberry juice (if you want) to give it color and flavor, add a strawberry on top that you have decorated with strands of melted white chocolate and you have a nice cupcake.

Anything sounds yummy. :)
Have you seen that Cool Whip has a strawberry flavored whipped topping? That would be a good one.
I usually make my own buttercream frosting... you could make buttercream frosting flavored a tad with strawberry extract.

What about a rasberry frosting? Or orange would be good too, and by this I am talking making a marshmallow frosting and adding orange zest, orange flavoring, not juice as it would ruin the icing. If you have the yen, add a bit of triple sec or grande marnier to the icing too, buttercream here works best with these. That would be terriffic.

My vote would be for regular vanilla cream cheese, vanilla buttercream or Italian Meringue --

My mother used to make a strawberry angel food cake with Italian Meringue -- it was wonderful.
