Below are links to the news stories I referred to yesterday when answering questions on Illegal Immigration. I'd like to read peoples thoughts on these stories; especially those who are for illegal immigration. Will these stories change your mind? Why or why not?

Link to Wikipedia article about Mexico's Illegal Immigrants (can someone provide me with a news article on this?) -

I am aware of the hardships these people go through. I've seen it myself. But it's a slap in the face to my parents, who had their own hardships yet still came here legally, when someone comes here illegally.

Sublime Stylie you seem to misunderstand, but maybe I wasn't elaborate enough (I only have 1,000 characters to work with after all and I'm fairly new to this site). First of all, I'm not saying that that's all Illegal Immigrants come here to do. If you had read the bottom, you'll see that I mention that I know the hardships they go through. And you're right, legal immigrants as well as U.S.-born citizens commit these crimes as well. What I am trying to get at is that there is a surge in ID theft and murders because of the added number of Illegal Immigrants. Don't you think the crime rate would drop significantly and our prisons would be less crowded? Also, you mention nothing regarding Mexico's Illegal Immigrants from Central America and how you feel on that.

STIFFLER, you make some very good points. I'd like to read any information you have regarding the citations you made if possible.

Also, for the record, I am Latino myself and I don't endorse the massive evasion of illegal immigrants.

SUPER CHEE, I agree, it is ridiculous. And with the recent announcment that the application fee may jump to $900, things will probably get worse.

QUEENBOUDICA, please read or don't answer the question. Thank you.

JOANN C, I don't understand what you mean.

KVELDULF_GONDLIR, so you wouldn't care if this happened to you? You'd still push your agenda and help these people who may possibly to the same thing to you a second time?

RICOM87, you're right, not all Illegal Immigrants are like that. But they still commit a crime regardless. They came here illegally and people like you and me are paying for them.

DCGURL, thank you for pointing that out. I believe that the terrorists who wanted to kill our soldiers in (I believe it was) New Jersey were Illegal Immigrants. The same goes for for John Malvo, who was involved in the sniper shootings in Washington D.C.

As far as the stricter laws you mention, you're right, they should be deported. However, I believe it should be for all who come here illegally. Those who have not committed any serious crimes (besides crossing here illegally) should be able to come back, but come here the right way.

TONY and RYAN THE LION!, ...you guys are idiots.

I live in the southern part of Arizona, so we deal with this issue frequently. Personally, I am tired of the illegal immigrants. they walk thru the desert and used to come to the ranch that I lived on. they were dehydrated and about half starved. I have seen young women put themselves and their newborns at great risk trying to get into the USA so their child can be a born citizen. We need to close the borders to this criminal activity and enforce legal immigration. there is no reason we should allow citizenship through criminal activity.
Legal immigrants work hard to get established and do things right, so we need to respect them enough to stop the illegal ones. We also need to change the laws regarding children born on US soil. If a woman gives birth here her child is automatically a citizen, them mom and dad are allowed to stay. how is this right? other countries don't allow this or the child has dual citizenship, but the parents don't. While I definatly feel for these people, they need to do it right and quit putting a burden on the rest of us

I believe in legal immigration. We need to know who is coming into this country. Our government is out of their minds. Our borders are wide open and every one who enters may not be a friend but an enemy. We recently had an invasion on our border which our president welcomed after he made jokes about those who wanted the government to make the border safe. I think the president really did not care . Tonight on the news They said That the illegals would receive tax returns and get the tax credit on their children. This will be another burden on the tax payers. We know we are broke. At least that is why the government is cutting back on schools , programs and etc. Where are they getting the money? Who are they borrowing from? They should not receive citizenship, vote, or receive taxes from money they earned during their illegal stay in this country. They still have not made our borders safe. They are all waiting for the 2016 election is over. their all worried about a vote. shame on all of them. I am going to be very careful who I vote for in 2016. Immigration will be important . I truly believe we are not safe from those who would mean us harm if our borders are not secure. I will want to know where they all stand on immigration before I vote.

I am against illegal immigration. I will never change my mind about it. I am however for immigration reform and a guest worker program. The backlog is a nightmare with people waiting 10 years or more for approval. It is ludicrous to even think of having to wait that long. The last 20 years should show us the system is broken and need of serious revision.

I'm very anti-illegal immigration. And I think the responses here already prove that those here who endorse illegal immigration are absolutely immune to the facts, and no amount of evidence will dissuade them from their anti-American attitudes.

And it is anti-American. It is degrading and destroying our country, permanently changing our country. Immigration is good, provided immigrants assimilate. But here in Florida where I live, what was 6% hispanic is now 35%. In some areas, like Miami/Dade and Broward counties, it is already over 50%.
And climbing.
It would be acceptable if they were assimilating. But they are not. They are assimilating us. We are forced to accomodate spanish in our businesses.
And a similar situation in Arizona, New Mexico, Texas...
They are assimilating us!

As has been said across multiple topics here, it's not just crime by roughly 8% of illegals in this country.

It's also:

**illegals drag down wages, by creating low-wage competition for jobs. That's proven by a Harvard study.
** illegals raise the cost and lower the quality of education, and overburden teachers. This is quantifiable by comparing the test results in high-immigrant areas, as compared to low-immigrant areas. Low immigrant areas spend much less on education, and yet have much higher test scores.
** illegals use more welfare.
** illegals exhaust medical facilities so they are unavailable for taxpayers. From 1993 to 2004 in one study, 84 hospitals in California closed because of huge unpaid bills for illegals who received free medical care.
** illegals, not going through immigration screening, bring in diseases, such as hepatitus A, B and C, tuberculosis, and other diseases that were virtually wiped out 50 years ago that are now on the rise.

And on and on.

When you consider the minimal taxes paid by illegals -vs- the enormous cost of all these services to illegals, the net cost to U.S. taxpayers is about 100 billion a year. And rising.

Why do you latinos endorse this massive invasion of illegals, and why do you think U.S. taxpayers should pick up the tab?

And how much is enough?

Things like that do happen, yet as horrible as some are, that still doesn't change my mind, because you or I know that all are not like that. Something needs to be done. But we can never be crime-free no matter who does crime. Yes, we need to secure our borders but we need comprehensive reform that would legalize the good ones who are here illegally. That's my opinion.

Those stories will definately NOT change my mind on the subject. I have put too much time and effort into facilitating contact between people wanting to come here (mostly from the Middle East, Asia, Africa and Europe) and the ones that bring them across the border to let stories like that change my views.

As to my thoughts on those stories, they really don't have much impact. They didn't happen to anyone I knew so I don't really care. Even if it HAD been someone I knew I probably STILL wouldn't care. Caring wouldn't fint into my agenda, but those incidents do.

I'm for immigration with limitations. People are soo concerned about immigration when it applies to Hispanics. But nobody is doing anything about the immigrants that are coming from other countries. The 911 terrorists did not come from Mexico. Oklahoma City bombers did not come from Columbia. 99% of our serial killers did not come from Latin America.

I do think we should be more strict on illegal immigrants who break the laws in our country. They should be deported but only in cases of violent offenses or repeat offenders.

so, what you're saying is that illegal immigration is wrong because those people do crimes in the US. In that case legal immigration is wrong, because those people commit crimes too. why dont you make your argument without using the "they're murderers" argument. i mean, c'mon, you gave us 4 articles, and you want those to change our minds?
