Yeah, I think that's really sad. So many immigrants - Latino and otherwise, are such responsible citizens pursuing the American dream just like any other.
If you talk to anyone who is really worked up about "illegal immigration" it will eventually come out that they don't like legal Mexican immigrants here much either, and really wish they could be gotten rid of too. Not liking people because of their national original or color is called RACISM!!! (not that anybody cares.)

I have wonderful Latino friends and neighbors, but I am also for closing our borders to illegals. Why should we pay more in taxes to support these people? I know they live in horrible conditions and go thru hell to get here, but htat is not the issue, if they would come into the US legally, they would be welcomed. I am also an EOP Employer. I hire based on avility to do the job, not skin color. I have several hispanic immigrants who work for me, and they are some of the best employees I have. I pay them well and miss them when they go home for visits, BUT everyone of them have a "green card" and are trying to do it right, and they deeply resent the illegals

Well....let's consider how our fellow citizens reacted to American citizens of Japanese descent when Pearl Harbor happened. Remember that? AMERICAN CITIZENS were forced from their homes. They were abused. They were discriminated against. They were hated. Did THEY bomb us? No. But people from their country of origin did so they paid for it.
Many people say that "illegal" immigration is not a race issue yet...what do you think of when I say "illegal alien?" I bet it's not a little green man. In fact, I bet it's a brown, Spanish-speaking man. Am I right? Let's be honest here. So, since everybody's all mad at "illegal" immigrants right now & all (if they are honest) will admit that they think "Mexican" or "Hispanic" when we say "illegal" immigrant then you can see where Latinos are getting the brunt of the hate. People have no way of knowing if the brown, Spanish-speaking person in front of them is a 3rd generation citizen or an "illegal" who just arrived yesterday. What do you think they assume? They assume "illegal." Sorry, but I've seen it time & time again. My own husband, who is a citizen & has been here for over 15 years is sometimes told to "GO HOME!" We've thought of some pretty good comebacks but the best thing is just to walk away from the ignorance & pray that God will forgive them & have mercy on their souls.

Illegal aliens have nothing to do with those that are here legally.
And an illegal alien is NOT a race.
Why are you attempting to falsely place the label "Latino" on illegal aliens?
Illegal aliens from 188 countries were deported last year.
BTW, a lot of those "32 million legal Latinos are obsessed with illegal immigraiton too"
go back to your cats.

I applaud the Latin American people who went through the arduous process of obtaining legal status. In fact I have conversed with many legal Latin immigrants, and they happened to be the group that is the angriest over the laxity of our government in enforcing our immigration policies.
Wouldn’t it enrage you that if you endeavored to accomplish something, by going through the prescribed hurdles, and then see someone achieve the same thing by circumventing the rules? How would you feel if you went to college, for example, and went through every course honestly, and found out that the person who got hired at company that you desired to work at, obtained the same degree by cheating in every class.
To not be tough on illegal immigration does not only make a mockery of our legislative system that fashions these rules. It also makes a mockery of our law enforcement officials, and most importantly, it is a slap in the face of those individuals, like my parents, who obtained entry into this country through the appropriate channels.

Some people in this forum just use immigration as a smoke screen to hate on Latinos. They think if they put illegal in front of Hispanic that gives them the right to stereotype.

And they also forget the thousands of Latino service men and women fighting in Iraq. Why? for their right to get on the internet and bash a whole group of people??
And like someone said those same ones who hate ILLEGAL immigrants, probably also hate LEGAL immigrants.

You don't have to be obsessed to stay on topic. If the issue is illegal immigration, legal immigrants are not a concern. If the issue is immigration in general, though, it's important to remember that there are non-hispanic illegal aliens and plenty of hispanic citizens and legal residents - as it's helpful to understand that race is not part of the issue.

I never forget that. But there are those Latinos who are actually trying to make it big time in the USA; going to college, having all these opportunities, etc. One friend told me people bash and attack me (verbally) here on YA and in the real world because they don't want to see a Latino like me succeed this much. They are intimidated.

Yes, but it's the minority. Unfortunately some who support the illegal immigrant makes matters worse on this issue. They make it and us against them arguement. THey go around claiming they respresent all Hispanics and attack other races. It's bad enough for those who is against illegal immigrants merge the identity of Hispanics with illegals, but it's worse when those who fight it do the same.
