That usually happens to sweet people!
I'm not judging you and i don't know the whole truth, but if you feel that way and he's a really good guy, just tell him the truth in nicest way possible. And please include that, how sorry you're and you wished it could work.
I would do this as soon as possible.
In addition, try not to stay friend with him, cause this will bring him more misery and a constant Que. of why it didn't work or why i wasn't good enough and barrage of nonsense.
SO, cut it for good. That's my opinion, of course.

Feelings change for whatever reasons...sometimes it is simply outgrowing each other especially if you are around each other a lot...you may need some time away from each other...before you make any sudden moves, sit down and tell him how you feel, hopefully he will listen to you and respect your feelings...give him an opportunity to maybe make things better...if you are still not feeling it then move on. Don't make excuses in your head for something that is not there eventually you will get angry and then nasty words will be exchanged...if you do end this thing you at least want it to end on pleasant terms...

Say, "I don't think our relationship is working out for me now. Nothing personal against you, as you are a fine person, put I need to be with someone else. I'm sorry if this hurts you allot, but we need to break up now before it hurts both of us more."
Finally, when you do break up, don't play with him and call him later, or try to re contact him. He may be sad for a while, but he should get over it someday. Good luck.

my friend is in the same situation as u r. she talked to him about how she felt where she just didnt want to date she just wanted to be friends. to this day they r really good friends and if he can't handle that and doesnt want to be friends then he isnt really a true friend. Also if u didnt break up with him but u really didnt like him u r hurting urself and him so i think u should talk to him and break up and still be friends.

Sounds like you have outgrown the relationship. Perhaps you should ask for some space and time to sort out your feelings. You may have just become so accustomed to his being there that you take him for granite. Once he gives you space you may miss him more then you realize and want him back.

Don't feed him some overused line like, "it's not you, it's me" be honest with him. There's nothing a guy hates more than someone crushing his pride. You should never be with someone out of pity.

You tell him the truth, you don't keep him hanging on to a lie.

tell him he's great, but you just can't handle a relationship at this point in your life, just for now.
