I went and looked up the question you asked so that I could see what the entire issue was about. I have to agree with you: That's pretty darn rude! I'd have to rate it at an 8, though.
It doesn't rate at a 9 or 10 because the person didn't curse or throw around any direct insults. But the person really didn't get the point of what you were trying to ask and honestly, it seems to me that this person didn't want to get the point. In essence, the individual in question did exactly what irks you about most answerers on yahoo answers. So, 8. Not the rudest answer I've seen on here, but pretty close.

Sometimes it is appropriate to answer rudeness with rudeness. Do you go into a restaurant and complain loudly about how crappy everything is, before you have been served? That is rude, and will get rudeness in return.
Your situation is very similar. When I used to play online RPG's I would wonder the same thing about all these people who did nothing but publicly complain about how bad everything sucked, yet still spend hours and hours a day on the darn thing, to say nothing of 15 bucks a month.
When found myself griping about the game, I quit playing, and took up soccer.
The point being, why spend time or energy on something you hate, that really only exists for it's amusement value, anyway?
So, my opinion is that rudeness was met with rudeness, no harm, no foul. You do not go to a baseball game to speak out about baseball, without expecting people to shout you down, because they are there to enjoy baseball.
Look beyond yourself, you cannot be righteously indignant at someone for meeting rudeness with rudeness without looking a bit foolish, yourself. I give it maybe a three.

1 I don't think that this was being rude just truthful. If you don't like something why would you continue to do it. I am not trying to be rude but think about it why would you?

I'd give it a 7. A very firm 7. That answer, no matter what the question, is NOT helpful. And the whole purpose of being on answers is to offer helpful information!
