I have read a couple different reports. Some people swear by coffee presses, where you kind of push the water by hand through the grounds. Me, I am too lazy for all that and just want to flick a switch in the morning when I am all crab-eyed, but I love good coffee. I read some reviews that said Braun makes the best, so I got one. It is very simple and uses a cone filter instead of the flat bottom kind. The water passes through the grounds more quickly and evenly so the brew is never bitter and the plate gets plenty hot but not so hot that it scorches the coffee if theres only a cup left in the bottom for a little while. Love it, nothing fancy.

I grind my coffee beans course and put them in a clean paper filter in a plastic paper filter holder that comes with the coffee makers. Place this over a thermos bottle, then boil the water and pour it over the ground coffee. Best coffee i ever had.
! Be sure and use a good tasting water. Check out Good Eats on the food networks web site.

I guess I will say the french press, however it is all in the coffee, I still have a wonderful cup of coffee from little out of the way coffee shops that have nothing but what they have used for years.

The french press because the natural oils on the coffee bean stay in your cup adding the most flavor.

Its not the coffee maker, but the coffee beans.
Make sure you have truely fresh beans, grind them yourself.

Mary;;; her smooth soft skin the gentle curve of her waist and the grace as she spooned the grounds
and as she leaned as she poured
and that fresh aroma her hair
she is the best

wish i knew. i do not recommend West Bend though. it broke after a couple weeks. still brews but the little thingie that stops it from dripping when you remove the pot came off. cheap plastic parts. i paid $50 for it, so i expected decent quality
