They consider it to be kind of like poaching. In my state there is a fine as well and they may take away your license privileges for a season. Easier just to shell out the $25 (in my state anyway) for a license in the first place. I spend at least that in tackle every year.

First off hope ya' learned something with this because if ya' get caught without one again, "Your A _ _ is grass and the Fish & Game will be the lawnmower". Enough for the shortie lecture, yes pay the fine and that should be it. Some states will require that you present a valid Fishing License (Xerox mail-in), so best for ya' to call up and get a confirmation on that. This happened ta' me when I was a kid in AK., on the Situk River (Yakutat) and got popped by ONE of the only TWO Game Wardens there. I learned quick because it cost me $100.00 bucks and they confiscated the rods I was usin', now the kicker ~ they were my old mans! Don't know what the fine would be but in CA., I think it's around $250.00. Don't like throwin' all this negativities at ya' but Dept., of Fish & Game can be really nasty especially in "Arnie's Country" , as in Schwarzeneggar our govenor. Hope everthing works out for ya' ;)...

You got a ticket, pay the fine. You knew you had to have a fishing license and chose to ignore it. Too bad. I don't know about other states, but in Texas, you don't mess with the fish and game people.

Maybe you should have asked," How much is a fishing license?" before you went fishing. Now that you got the ticket, you want help. Look at the ticket, it should tell ya or call the phone number provided to find out. Next time, know your laws and regulations because in the eyes of the court, "ignorance is no excuse." ~good luck with that.

Depending on where you live, fines differ in price. From 25 to 75 bucks plus you have to pay court costs. But no, it doesn't involve any other violations just gonna be expensive. So in the future goofy, get your license it will be a whole lot cheaper. : )

Yes, you will just have to pay the fine. Hopefully you learned that when you don't have a fishing license is when you will get caught and when you have one nobody wants to see it.

Yes, it won't involve anything else. A shame a person can't even go fishing for free anymore. I live near a nice lake, and they charge you $1 just to walk your dog. All you can do is pay the fine.
