Yes
To see if you have a major problem, open your hood and at the brake master cylinder there is a pressure switch. Unplug it and look if the switch is leaking into the wire connection. The problem it will short out the wire and cause a fire. If it is not leaking there is no immediate problem. The pressure switch deactivates the cruise control.

This was explained to me by the service tech that fixed mine. If the switch is not leaking all they do is put in a fuse-able link. If the switch is leaking they will have to replace it. It takes longer to do the paper work .

I got an 03 f-150 and didn't get the recall notice as mine was built after the cut off date (I have a newer style switch from the factory)

As someone said, on one design the fluid would come up the switch occasionally and get into the connectors. The wires in question are fused, but the vehicles can catch fire before this fuse actually pops (it's on a circuit with other stuff so the fuse size can't be changed)

the fix is as someone said, if not leaking (most aren't) they install a jumper that has a 2 amp fuse that blows before the switch catches fire.... if leaking, Ford changes what ever is damaged by the brake fluid, but usually just the switch and it's connector on most vehicles so far.

The recall you are referring to is for the ABS (Antilock Brake System) deactivation switch. The recall consists of installing a fused harness between the connector and the switch. If the switch is leaking then replace the switch also. The chances of a fire are very slim. The repair takes only a few minutes.

The chances of a fire happening are very slim. The warning is phrased that way for legal reasons. Just take it by the dealer when you get a chance, the actual repair takes less than 10 minutes.

I did not get a letter but as a SHO owner I go to another web site where they have also mentioned this and like the answers already given take to the dealer and have it addressed. Better safe than sorry I say.

I haven't received one since I don't own one, but I've had friends that have received a letter too.
That's right, probability is low, they're just covering their legal ***es.
the repair takes only a few moments, maybe 2 hours top.

nice curls by the way.
