i've had green teas brew light green to a light tan color. I think it depends which type of green tea it is. There are so many different kinds of green tea. Some from china, some from Japan, some from Sri Lanka, etc. And to add to this, different regions of china produce green tea, which all have different names. Furthermore, batches of green tea are different. There are so many variables in tea, it's quite intriguing sometimes.
edit: as you can see from this tea sellers website, the color of green tea varies. as well as white, black, and oolong teas.

Good question: depending on the manufacturer of the tea and where it came from (Southeast Asia, China, Malaysia) all produce "green" tea, but some can come out a brownish tint, while others look almost like green kool ade......Either way, green tea is loaded with antioxidants, and I've been drinking it for just over a year a am truly experiencing the benefits of the tea......and the nicest thing, is that I can even drink it in the evening and it doesn't interfere with my sleep (where as the caffeine in regular tea keeps me up at night....) Enjoy!!

well, it brews a mild olive green to me. sometime a light yellow green brew. it doesnt brew as dark as black tea because i think green teas are unoxidized tea leaves.

I don't think so but maybe they call it green tea because it comes from the green Bush.
