I ask this in respons to some that are not sure how to send e-mails to other community members. All you have to do is look for the e-mail option in a users profile. If you don't get e-mail and want it, turn on you e-mail option in your profile.

I have some great repliers, that even when they disagree with my logic, I like to let them know, that I appreciate their input, regardless of their possition on the issue I raise.

A good debater will take into to account their opositions ideas and if they have no valid argument to refute them, then they have to agree with that point. Thats what makes this place so much fun... I learn from most everyone that replies to me (except those few cynical, and snide responders).

So go ahead open up you's guys, and let us tell you when your wrong your right too. You might get an unexpected thank you note from me.

I guess I should clarify one thing for example. Like this guy named robert and his pic is a lime green KKK dude, this guy should not even be allowed on the internet (my opinion). I can understand why he blocks his e-mail the constant bombardment of negativity would be too much for him small inept mind to handel.

Now if that was harsh I'm sorry dude, but you and all your racist friends gotta get a life and accept the fact that all men/women are created equal.

The last rant may get me booted I dont know, but there are some of you out there that really encourage me, and i want you to feel free to e-mail me with in community guidelines. My actions and my words are about the same (my words are not made up, they are my heart in fact) My words like me are not perfect but they do reveal my character and my beliefs. And like the Apostle Peter thay can be brash, out of place, and sometimes inspired by the Spirit of God.

Some people don't want hate-mail and for that reason alone , they don't have an open email option . I disagree with that line of thinking . I have always had an open email and it's not very often that I get hate-mail . And when I do , I delete it !! Simple as that .

MOST of the worst respondents don't have an open email . But those people KNOW they'll get bombarded for their outrageous claims .

Then there's some responsible folks who don't have open email , and when there's a slight misunderstanding. . . . there's no way to email them to clear it up . It's those people specifically that I wish would have open access to their email .
Otherwise they walk around without having even the faintest clue that perhaps they misunderstood something .

Those who don't have open emails 'think' they're protecting themselves when in fact they're protecting nothing . If a bad email comes in , delete it . But simply because it's there doesn't harm anyone one bit . And there's a sociological connection with that type of rationale , and the rationale of those who think having their children carry pagers or cell phones is somehow protecting their kids . It's really not . I've heard countless parents claim that they gave their kids cell phones to be able to call them and check to see if they're OK . WHAT ? How can you make sure your kid is OK by calling them ? You can't . They're either in trouble or they're not . No phone call is gonna change that .

Both groups have given themselves a false sense of security!!

For the first several months here in YA I kept my contacts closed. Then as I got to know a bit about some of the people through their answers and profiles I opened up my 360 page to YA. Just a few weeks ago, I was able to get a second email account so I set that up for contact through YA. I keep my main e-mail account for my friends and family only. Have met some fabuloous people through YA and have several 360 friends from here. As yet have recieved no hate mail-guess I better keep my fingers crossed.

Interesting question Bob. Did you realize that answering this question implies a level of arrogance some might find difficult to claim? *smile* After all, I have responded to some of your questions and my email option is closed...it is arrogant of me to assume that this question is in any way directed at me? Hummmm...interesting puzzle related to humility at least wouldn't you say? :)

I had valid reasons for choosing to keep my email address private when I first signed up. Most importantly, the only email address I had that was set up properly at the time was my work address. Because I teach online classes, I already get a PILE of important messages at that address...and I already get enough worthless, junk messages. On average, I receive over 100 new email messages per day at that address and at least 40 to 50 require a reply and/or followup! I also have a personal address that receives a similar volume and two others that I need to manage and incorporate into my email checking routine!

In addition, I have this little "email management" problem...until just a few weeks ago, I had nearly 7,000 messages in my inbox and nearly twice as many stored in various folders on my employer's server (I can't tell you how many "over storage limit" messages I received...fortunately the IT guy was able to increase my limit until I could get it under control).

Finally, something about my "online orientation" compels me to respond promptly to messages that contain something important (questions from students, requests from my boss, etc...)...and without some serious changes to the way I managed email, I wasn't willing to invite any more serious and important email that I might miss or be unable to reply to in a timely manner.

Right now I'm in the process of setting up and organizing several different email addresses to facilitate better organization and management of incoming mail. As soon as I have everything working to my satisfaction so that I can quickly and efficiently separate the genuine replies from the spam and hate mail I'll likely receive, I'll provide an email address in my profile.

Until then, I figure I can handle the small volume of email that might result from putting my email address in a specific reply so you can reach me at KarenL@reallifeconnect.org if you're interested in contacting me.

My e-mail is disabled because of relentless hate mail from Christians, even including a few death threats. My Q&A is private because unknown bigots were going back through my entire history and filing dozens of unjustified abuse reports. I don't block anyone because we're not permitted to know who files abuse reports so, in truth, I don't actually know who my enemies are.

It's nice to know there are at least a few rational debaters out there, but there are far too many psychotic bigots to risk opening my e-mail to strangers. When Christians begin to learn that threatening someone with eternal torture is hate speech -- no different than a white racist addressing an African-American with the N-word -- I'll reconsider my position.

Bob-while I would love to chat with *you,* opening my email up to anyone is just more hassle then I think would be worth it. Can you imagine commonsense having a field day emailing me all day long with how women are the bane of the world? Most people that would email me (I would think) would either be prating on about how I am going to burn in hell or agreeing with me about my posts. Very few here would email for a good converstion and/or debate.
Perhaps I'm wrong and I'll open up one of my two accounts to email to see how it goes. (alia is the other)

I guess they just don't want to deal with the human detritus that hangs out around here. It's too bad, really. Most of the email I've received has been quite interesting and challenging. They miss out on a lot. And with the blocking function, it should be easy enough to stop the idiots out there now.

Some of the responders have actually received hate mail and even in some extreme cases reported receiving death threats.

I can certainly understand in such cases why they would wish to keep their email options private, and perhaps even to disallow additions to their contacts.

Hey, look, we agree on something! The end must be nigh! ;)

I started liking this place a lot less after people started to make all their questions private and block other people. Pretty soon, we'll all be asking questions and getting answers only from those who agree with us in the first place.

Bob, I mentioned to you that I have a problem with my eye sight which makes simple things sometimes unimaginable difficult. I was discussing the email thing with my wife who took over (as she is prone to do), and helped me accomplish the impossible. God had her in mind when He said that all things were possible for me, for through her, this was. Thanks for the motivation!

You know as well as I do when you get really irritated with their opinion or against yours you would love to give them something to think about. When you cant. Your stress level rises. I know mine does. So come on friendly people I just want to write you that I love what you have written and just want to say so. :-(
