This happens like about once a month maybe and it usually occurs at night and veeery rarely in the day.
i get like a really horrible dull ache all down my right shin of my leg and once it got really bad and i just sat there trying to keep still or start rubbing it so the pain might go away but it doesnt...after an hour or something it fades out and stops

this happens to me too
but mine does switch legs
i have been told numerous things
my parents say its because those bones are growing
my friends mom said it was because i was using them more than usual, or i was standing too long, stuff like that
my soccer coach says shin splints, but i dont think its that one
and some other people just say its a normal body ache and to take some advil
but i think its the first or second one
when this happens i usually take a few ibuprofin, and just lie down or get someone to massage my legs
i hope this helps you!

You have a small case of RLS (Restless leg Syndrome). It happens to me when I am tired and I decide to get up and move and lay down again the I get tension in my leg. Talk to your Doctor about it and get some medication for it.

sounds like Osgood-Schlatter's syndrome, common among growing kids and teens. Look it up on the web, you might learn something.
