We devoted at least half as much time trying to fix something real as we did on something theoretical, like global warming? There is no proof that we will be dead in 20 years if we dont do anything about "global warming." Remember El Nino years ago? if that was happening today, it would be blamed on global warming.

Global warming is also more profitable then people like to think. Companies like Toyota and Honda are see record breaking years. Home manufacturing that specialize in Green building are skyrocketing. The price of an inconvenient truth movie is outrageous, especially since Al Gore "cares" so much.

To me, the funding for this research could be put towards something far more beneficial to society as a whole.

I hope a glacier washes up in my front yard, this would actually be PROOF. We have had a lot of rain here which is incredible. First year without a drought in a long time.

The only way the sea level will rise is if landlocked glaciers melt. THINK ABOUT IT, if the glacier is free floating, it has already displaced all of the water it can. This means that if it melts, the sea wont rise. Put ice in a full glass of water and prove it

In the 80's we were facing the next Ice age and it was not pseudo consensus science, it was fact based, cyclical evidence conclusion.

I clearly remember that the ozone layer was largely to blame then, our emissions were adding to it making it more difficult for the suns rays to penetrate to the earth.

Now the sun is being ignored and the activity on it's surface is being dismissed as effecting our temperatures?

I agree with you, lets fix things we can and actually accomplish. We can certainly start treating the earth with more respect and destroy less.

And lets hold the real problem countries like China and India to the standard we expect will help the earth.

why are you so worried about the money spent on global warming? there are so many other instances where funds are misappropriated or put to poor use. Look at the millions and millions, even billions, of dollars that are spent on things such as fighter planes, bombs, and other weapons of war every year. Look at the amount of money American cities and states put into remodeling shopping districts and tourist hot spots, while other parts of the country are as bad as 3rd world countries, with bad water, no food, horrible housing, and a joke of an education system.

Also, there is no sense in ignoring a problem just because it is long term. Just because global warming won't have any adverse effects for a long time doesn't mean that we shouldn't put an effort into learning about it and doing our best to make up for the imbalance we've caused. Global warming is a naturally occurring event. The earth warms, then it cools, then it warms again.. There is nothing we can do to stop that. We can, however, stop certain practices that unnaturally speed that process along, and which may harm our planet permanently, like our careless consumption of our limited resources.

All in all, there is plenty of money being misspent, money that we should be trying to get our governments to reassign to more meaningful and less wasteful projects, and global warming funds just aren't, and shouldn't be, included.

I think we should spend all our time and money on fixing the environment. We should have an enviro-centric society. Government should be centered on environmental problems instead of economic ones. The old slogan was "it's the economy, stupid!" The new slogan is "it's the environment, stupid! All problems in the world are because of violating mother earth. It's about time people became aware that we are parasites living off a generous host and that we are sucking her blood dry. All your other problems don't amount as much when compared to the threat of global warming. This is the #1 crises of the entire history of the human race! You definitely need a reality check.

Great question! Unfortunately the ignorant are following Al Gore like zombies even though it was reported by his state energy department that he consumes more electricity than anyone else in his state. These are the same idiots that were stacking up on fire logs during the approaching Ice Age of the 1970s.

Yes, mysticism is very profitable. I would be a believer if my family's income depended on it.

Just look at Algore's fortunes since he came out with his movie. No doubt the sequel will be out soon, and no doubt the sequel will predict more doom and gloom just around the corner.

I find it amazing that relativity smart people can just fall for a hoax like this.

You may not be dead in 20 years time but will your grandchildren have a life as comfortable as you have enjoyed or will they be living in caves.
Wouldn't it be wonderful if we spent as much time and money on improving the world as we now spend on killing people who we don't like
