I had several removed by my doctor during a routine physical. He said it's nothing major, and he just snipped them off with a scalpel, and daubed on some silver iodide as a precaution against infection.

Having said that, I don't recommend you just grab a knife of pair of scissors and try to remove these yourself. It stung a bit when he cut mine off, and you really don't want to jerk reflexively with a sharp knife next to your eye, if you try this at home. I'd wait until your next doctor's visit for a physical, back to school exam, cold, gynecologist appointment, or whatever reason, and ask then if they can remove it. It takes about 2 minutes, is all.

Skin tags are pretty dangerous to move on your own... because, they bleed a lot once removed. If you don't have something to slow the bleeding, it could get serious, fast.
