Aug. 20-27, 2007 issue - In one of history's more absurd acts of totalitarianism, China has banned Buddhist monks in Tibet from reincarnating without government permission....
At 72, the Dalai Lama, who has lived in India since 1959, is beginning to plan his succession, saying that he refuses to be reborn in Tibet so long as it's under Chinese control. Assuming he's able to master the feat of controlling his rebirth, as Dalai Lamas supposedly have for the last 600 years, the situation is shaping up in which there could be two Dalai Lamas: one picked by the Chinese government, the other by Buddhist monks.

I don't know how they can think they can do that, I just hope Bush doesn't get wind of this... he'll add that to the Patriot Act.

How are they planning on enforcing this??
Who do they plan on arresting?? The previous person or the new person?
China has simply shown more of their ignorance and their attempts to control all aspects of life ; even their attempts to control life and death.....
reincarnation is not real nor is it possible, but any hope of something else is discouraged by the "mind police" of such governments...

The current Chinese government is a great example of mass psychosis, don't you think? Seems like they're following America's lead into the foolishness frontier.

There is no such thing for man kind as reincarnation. God said, there is no power is the grave(hell), when you die, no one remembers you any more, you are in your grave, until the second coming of Jesus Christ, when you will be resurrected, at the great white tower judgment, where then Jesus will then judge every one, ether to eternal life or to death for your sins.
The Word was the only one that was reincarnated, when he went down to earth as Jesus Christ, to die for the sins of man.
What ever you want to believe about the Buddhist monks, they didn't and can't reincarnate, they're mortal, and just flesh and blood like you and me, and Buddha is just a man made god, it has no power of any kind. what ever power, that might be on this earth, is the power of satan. Satan is the god of this world right now.

Oh now that is funny. The one thing in life that the government does not have any say in is the afterlife!! I don't believe in reincarnation but that is crazy!!

Your right...totally absurd.
But they'll be a lot more successful at it than they are at trying to oppress the underground church.
Mark my word, we'll see the day Chineese missionaries will come to the states to preach to us !
Remember ... Made in China = Slave labor!!
