The screen when first switched on has green and purple flashes around the light areas of the picture but only last for around a half hour ! Is this my sky+ box or the new TV?
If the new tv any ideas (apart from sending it back!)?

You havn't said wether this is lcd or crt .(cathode ray tube).
if its lcd then definatley faulty.
If its crt have you any speakers very close to it as strong magnetic fields will have this effect. if so move them away from screen.
have the tube deguassed with a degaussing ring.
If its still the same after the above then its faulty and demand a replacement as you are entitled to one.as you have just purchased it under the consumer act..
As for that mater I would not even attemp the above just demand someone to come and see it and do not pay for it as its only new...make them do the work after all its your good hard worked money.

Well your GREEN pixels are turning On and Off...that's why you get Excessive Green, then LACK OF GREEN (purple -red and blue make purple)..

This won't disappear.....

MAKE A COPY of your purchase reciept and Contact the Toshiba Customer Care number located in your book (IF you need Service chapter)

Get a servicer to your home.....

Well, nothing to worry about it, it is normal when you switch on first time after tranportation. The grill in your picture tube got magnetized and hence it was not able to produce the correct color shades, but then there is a deguasing circuit incorporated in every TV, it will handle the problem by itself as it happend in yourTV.

contact the dealer customer support department, Toshiba themselves if you have registered the tv or phone an outlet selling electrical equipment. Tried all these myself in the past and all very helpful.
