The United States passed laws and declared the religious holiday for the nation. Most were Christian.
As a former gov't worker, my Jewish co-workers had to either use personal leave or earn flex hours to be off on their Holy Days.
Years ago, we did not have that many Hare Krishna's, Muslims, Buddhists, Sikhs, Wicca, etc. They were and probably still are a minority.
But I guess that since everything else is being thrown out the window concerning Christian beliefs and values, go ahead and take away the religious holiday Christmas too. Big business has already done its damage.

Well the only religious holiday that we observe as a nation is Christmas. I don't believe this is so much in the honor of Christ's birth but as a secular holiday. I mean look at all the business's that send out Christmas cards that have to say Happy Holidays instead of Merry Christmas. Anyway, we are not allowed to observe Easter as a holiday which in my mind is more important to the Christian religion because it is the day that Christ rose from the dead. Something that no other religion can lay claim too. Anyway. Great question.

I don't know any religion that gets excused if you are referring to work, but its up to the employer on a case by case basis. Christmas is considered a secular holiday. Some religions prohibit working on some holidays and other just suggest it. At school, a persons religious beliefs cant be interfered with because public schools are considered governmental entities, so they cant violate their 1st amendment rights.

While I understand your concern, there are so many different religions that if we stopped working in recognition of every one of them, we'd never work. Now, this sounds good, but, it would ruin the economy. So, if we actually do treat all religions equally, we would have to stop taking days off for Christmas, Good Friday (if your lucky), and, and ... what else is there?

The seat of power is at the moment in the hands of Christians which have a lot of influence by the Jews.
Other religions do not tend to matter too much as it is thought by the law makers to be naught, really all festivals should have a chance to be celebrated but the Christians think otherwise,

there's a distinction between religious habit, and well-known habit. in case you're muslim, and you want to appreciate what religious habit is like, then working example, religious muslim ladies dont shake hands. Im valuable some will say they are so religious, and shake hands, yet hadiths say ladies at the instant are not meant to additionally be on my own with a million guy, not to show shake his hand. in the event that they do, that doesnt recommend shes not muslim, despite the fact that it you're asking approximately religious habit. And religiously conversing, It Dosent count What persons think of roughly you, it concerns what Allah thinks. The prophets, pbut, teach this element simply by fact all of them have been ridiculed by skill of non believers. when you examine Quaran and Hadith, and discover buddies who do the comparable, it's going to be lots much less confusing to be religious. i will see the way it would be not ordinary if human beings have been staring at you in a foul way or despite the fact that,,yet your deen is greater important. you could nonetheless be religious, and friendly on the comparable time. You dont could provide up your existence to alter into religious, you in basic terms could stability it out, and have self assurance that Allah, and the prophet's sayings are authentic.

I think in the States you could probably claim a religious day off for almost any religion, or at least the major ones. I used to be a member of the Worldwide Church of God, which kept the 7th-day Sabbath and the Hebrew holy days, and I usually had no problem getting those days off.

You have to prove that you belong to a certain religion. It's true that this country caters to Christianity but that's only because most people here claim to be Christians. We'd be all tied up with complaints if people were required to prove they're Christian, so Christianity is the exception. Get over it.

Some religions are allowed their respective holidays. If you are not affiliated with a particular religion who happens to be celebrating a holiday, well ..... whose fault is that. You can always convert. But why "hate" like you are doing. You probably get so many sick days per year, if you want Kwanzaa or Rosh Hashanah off, take a sick day.

I'm not sure what you're referring to. Xmas is a recognized national holiday because it has over reached the chrisitans. It's just about giving gifts now. I don't know of any other religious days that people are given off.
