Since both Islam and Judaism forbid the consumption of pigmeat as unclean, it would follow that the Muslims and Jews would find Christians repulsive. Or maybe when no one is looking, they ALL stuff themselves with fried pork rinds and Bac-Os. How serious is this?

ISLAM does not allow us to eat pork the reasion

Question:

Why is the eating of pork forbidden in Islam?

Answer:

The fact that consumption of pork is prohibited in Islam is well known. The following points explain various aspects of this prohibition:

1. Pork prohibited in Qur’an

The Qur’an prohibits the consumption of pork in no less than 4 different places. It is prohibited in 2:173, 5:3, 6:145 and 16:115.

"Forbidden to you (for food) are: dead meat, blood, the flesh of swine, and that on which hath been invoked the name of other than Allah." [Al-Qur’an 5:3]

The above verses of the Holy Qur’an are sufficient to satisfy a Muslim as to why pork is forbidden.

2. Pork prohibited in the Bible

The Christian is likely to be convinced by his religious scriptures. The Bible prohibits the consumption of pork, in the book of Leviticus

"And the swine, though he divide the hoof, and be cloven footed, yet he cheweth not the cud; he is unclean to you".

"Of their flesh shall ye not eat, and their carcass shall ye not touch, they are unclean to you."
[Leviticus 11:7-8]

Pork is also prohibited in the Bible in the book of Deuteronomy

"And the swine, because it divideth the hoof, yet cheweth not the cud, it is unclean unto you. Ye shall not eat of their flesh, nor touch their dead carcass."
[Deuteronomy 14:8]

A similar prohibition is repeated in the Bible in the book of Isaiah chapter 65 verse 2-5.

3. Consumption of pork causes several diseases

The other non-Muslims and atheists will agree only if convinced through reason, logic and science. Eating of pork can cause no less than seventy different types of diseases. A person can have various helminthes like roundworm, pinworm, hookworm, etc. One of the most dangerous is Taenia Solium, which is in lay man’s terminology called tapeworm. It harbours in the intestine and is very long. Its ova i.e. eggs, enter the blood stream and can reach almost all the organs of the body. If it enters the brain it can cause memory loss. If it enters the heart it can cause heart attack, if it enters the eye it can cause blindness, if it enters the liver it can cause liver damage. It can damage almost all the organs of the body.

Another dangerous helminthes is Trichura Tichurasis. A common misconception about pork is that if it is cooked well, these ova die. In a research project undertaken in America, it was found that out of twenty-four people suffering from Trichura Tichurasis, twenty two had cooked the pork very well. This indicates that the ova present in the pork do not die under normal cooking temperature.

4. Pork has fat building material

Pork has very little muscle building material and contains excess of fat. This fat gets deposited in the vessels and can cause hypertension and heart attack. It is not surprising that over 50% of Americans suffer from hypertension.

5. Pig is one of the filthiest animals on earth

The pig is one of the filthiest animals on earth. It lives and thrives on muck, faeces and dirt. It is the best scavenger that I know that God has produced. In the villages they don’t have modern toilets and the villagers excrete in the open air. Very often excreta is cleared by pigs.

Some may argue that in advanced countries like Australia, pigs are bred in very clean and hygienic conditions. Even in these hygienic conditions the pigs are kept together in sties. No matter how hard you try to keep them clean they are filthy by nature. They eat and enjoy their own as well as their neighbour’s excreta.

As a faith community, Muslims do not view Christians as "unclean" for eating swine. It's all about how Christians interpret Biblical Scripture. It's my understanding that according to Christianity, when Jesus came, everything that was previously forbidden to eat according to Mosaic Law, especially swine, was now all right to eat. However, that is not the teaching of the Holy Qur'an.

As a former Christian myself, I ate pork because that's what my parents ate. It never crossed my mind to defy them by telling them I'm not going to eat it. That wasn't my place to do that. Sure, it tasted good; however, once I embraced Islam as an adult, I stopped eating pork, regardless of how good it tasted. It was against Qur'anic (as well as Biblical) teachings. I still stand by this teaching in this present day.

If there are Muslims out there who see nothing wrong with consuming pork because "it tastes good", then that's their decision and their choice. They are not superior to those Muslims like myself who don't consume it. To us, pork's good taste is irrelevant; it's all about obeying the orders of The Almighty Who always knows best.

i don't know about muslims, for judaism forbids consumption of pigmeat for jews, not for all humans.
so no, we really don't care if you eat bacon.

some christians are into telling everyone, including non -christians what to do. that might be because they think everyone should be christian.

but jewish people have no problem with good people of any faith. if you want to become jewish, you're welcome to, but we're not going to chase you down and threaten you with hell if you don't.

live and let live.

just for the record brian, only orthodox jews won't eat at restaurants where unkosher food is served, and it's not because of the people eating there, but because they can't eat there.
and for all that jesus said, he never said not to keep kosher, he didn't "clean" all pigs. jesus himself kept kosher, and if you want to be like him, you should too!

interesting passage from the koran. does it say "dead meat" in general? does that mean muslims should all be vegetarians? why aren't they?

Jews don't view it that way at all. Muslims do, however.

One of the main differences is that Jews do not, and have never, wanted to convert the entire world to their belief system. They think there are rules that they follow willingly that others do not have to choose. Refraining from eating pork, is one example.

Muslims, by contrast, do want to forcibly convert the entire world and DO impose their rules on others. Christians aren't ALLOWED to eat pork in most muslim-run places. They're also punished with an extra-tax that muslims don't have to pay.

It's VERY serious to them. Most wont eat in a restaurant where they serve pork!!!

The old testament says that it's unclean(probably because they roll around in their own poop) but Jesus said it's not what enters the mouth that defines a man but what comes out of the mouth...

Christians are not supposed to eat it either. They choose to ignore this fact dont know why. For me i dont pick and choose parts of my faith which suit or dont suit if others do that's their call. My parents are not Muslim and eat bacon in front of me, does not bother me at all. Why would it. We dont not eat pork for others to see then eat it in private as God is all seeing and all knowing and we dont eat it because he tells us not too. Would be pretty pointless eating it in secret would it not? Where can you hide from God? Where?
I know of not one Muslim who has any desire to eat pork but others are welcome to. No skin of my nose.......

Leviticus 11:7-8
And the swine though he divided the hoof, and he be cloven footed, yet he cheweth not the cud; he is unclean to you.
Of their flesh shall ye not eat, and their carcass shall ye not touch; they are unclean to you.

The are ignorant about the teachings of Jesus Christ in the bible (New Testament). They have not read that swine or pig has already cleansed by Jesus . The unclean foods were only addressed to the Israel people during the time of Moses. and at the time of Jesus, he have clean it.They are missing part of their life in not eating the meat of a pig. It is pity to them.

The dietary laws are for Jews only. It's of no consequence that others eat foods forbidden to us. However, we cannot eat in their home, but they are welcome in our homes. They still have a place in the world to come!
