In CA, the last I heard, it was $1200. Outside jail time and auto insurance ramifications, it is nearly as costly as a ticket for drunk driving.

And, Rango is right, as usual. If you intentionally play with a train and that causes a train wreck where life is lost, or intentionally wreck a train, it carries the death penalty (unless this too has been changed).

Normally I am opposed to capital punishment, but in an instance such as this, the execution may prevent the stUPid gene from being passed on......

Dont know the cost of a ticket but a funeral will run several thousand.
I suppose it would depend on several issues, but intentionally stopping could be construed as wreckless endangement which can be a very large penalty including prison time if the judge decides to.
Hard to imagine a stupider activity actually.
